Next year.

Welcome to the RockSoc board, it gets worse here every day... talk about RockSoc, rock music, plain rocks or other silly irrelevant drivel. All are welcome: members & non-members, of the past, present & future.

Next year.

So,

In the hope of de-fribulating some false-life back into this board; What plans does the new committee have for coming semester?

I cannot speak for the rest of the committee but I plan to make every new first year male my bitch.

Haha, only kidding (or am I?)

I'm going to turn this question around:
What do YOU all want from your Rock Soc next year?

I want every first year male.

Ahem. How did that slip out?

Ok I guess I'd like no more bullshit. This last year was too full of meaningless and overblown incidents (eXs, rockvault) while the real issues went under-addressed. Stuff like encouraging new members, advertising, the website, events (themed nights, talent shows, gig trips etc), getting The Ball back, DJs and more importantly that what they play reflects what rocksoc want to hear.

I guess I'd like more committee-member interaction rather than the latter sitting about and bitching while the former go off and do their own thing.

Tbh there's not too much to be done, it's pretty much perfect ;)

I would like an event in which the laws of physics are suspended for the duration. Forget pole-dancing; I want to mosh on the celing!

I also think that the bi-weekly non-rock events should be brought back. Pub-crawls in paticular, seeing as they cost nothing but time to run, even in the event that no one else turns up.

Speaking with my Rock Soc member hat on (not my committeee hat. It has more feathers) I'd like to see people just drink/not drink, dance, see their mates and fucking ENJOY THEMSELVES.

Can I say Dom has brought up some good points - you should be aware they weren't under addressed at all, they were talked about a lot at committee meetings. The reason for the lack of extra events was lack of attendance, however, we do intend on bringing these back with hopefully a lot more people showing up in the coming year. If we get the member base up a bit this year we will have a lot more finance and therefore will be able to put a lot more on!

I don't think we're going to see more of Victoria without some sort of wild party.

Which reminds me; you'll all back me up that we've had a long running tradition of the first years hosting parties, right? :D

The fact of the matter is, there is a long tradition of first years holding parties.

Usually last until right after the first party of the year :P

Trying to think how to have parties without either:

A. Ending up with too many people, half of which the host doesn't know, and the place ending up a mess.
B. Doesn't seem like we're delibrately excluding people.

I suspect this may be impossible...

In my day we didn't give a toss.
Anyone remember the pots and pans party with the fire extinguisher and the flour?

Our doors came off the hinges the last one we had in fife park.
