In a fit of insomnia and procrastination... What do people want next year?

Welcome to the WARSoc message board, designated for the discussion of WARSoc events, inflating the President's ego, and anything even vaguely related to RPGs, Wargaming or anything else. Members, prospective members or those just in out of the cold are all welcome.

In a fit of insomnia and procrastination... What do people want next year?

We have a board, we may as well use it.

What does everyone want to play next year? Either specific ("I've got a Delta Green Cthulhu module set in 1982 Ukrane for five players that I want to use" or general "I want an RPG with decent Mechs in it".

Once we've got an idea of what people want, we can se if we can get things going.

Myself, I want my Witch Hunters and the Ogres I should have by then to get a good showing. I also fancy some modern era supernatural stuff.

By the way, would there be any interest for setting up a weekend session in the Union? It's something to concider doing, but if we're only going to have five people it may as well just be held in someone's room.

Some kinda larping involving a bar-room setting, played out entirely in the union bar. Like normal life... except I can get loaded Geekily! We could throw D20's at people or something... just to show its a game.

I'm quite happy to be looking at Saturday Wargaming. [I think I may bring my Tau up next year instead of my Salamanders.]

Also, I wouldn't trying to get some sort of Inquisitor campaign or set of games in. I'm still set on building a Fio'La, a new Demiurg and maybe a Por'la over the summer, as well as finishing off my Inquisitor I used at the Glasgow campaign day in February. As an aside: Doing an Inquisitor campaign is perfect for 'in peoples houses' as you can set terrain up anywhere.

As a total aside, what would the chances be of looking into the residences for locations to use for gaming? Certainly a few of the dining rooms aren't used much and they'd have perfect table space for using. Somewhere central, like Regs, would work wonders that way, but I don't know how much use it'd be trying to sweet-talk the Residence Managers...

Classic D&D

Postby Fedoraccoon on Fri May 12, 2006 10:25 pm

Unless somebody happens to be running a classic D&D campaign that I can't resist playing next year I will be running a Classic D&D campaign over the course of the first semester of next year for any who would like to play. It should be noted though that my group got HUGE this year and so I want to limit the number of players to 5.

On a serious note this time. I'd quite like to see more campaigns run and advertised for outside of union hours. Wednesdays are a real bitch when it comes to societies (for me anyway. I dunno about everyone else). I like playing, but if there was a campaign running on the weekend it'd be a lot more convenient.

Also, we could get through more material if we were playing two or three nights a week, for the hardcore out there.

If we are running a weekend session I would probably think that doing two diferent games would make more sense.

I'm entirely willing to run a D&D game, since I know that you have massive constraints on preparation due to coursework next year Aaron. I also agree that our group did grow to the point where nothing got done so I won't do huge groups either.

I never did get my game of Warhammer this year either, 2000pts Fantasy Empire army. I'll also be finishing off a Tau kill team over the summer so I'm willing to use them next year.

As for other games, I've not really played that many RPG's but I'm open to new ones.

I'm also going to make it society policy to get Kill Team to work. Either the Random House of Evil is doing something wrong or it is haenously stacked in fabour of the goons.

To be honest the group only got ridiculously sized because us newbies wanted to play with people we already knew. I'm sure it'll be easier to plan next year. Especially if phil's running his Cthulu campaign.

Unless someone comes up with a good original D&D campaign that I really feal like playing in I will probably be running a long adventure/campaign in classic D&D next year for any who would like to join. Although my group got HUGE this year compared to what is efficient, so I would like to limit the number of players to 5.
