how do i modify my PS2 console so it can play games of all regions?

i have a slimline PS2 bought here in the UK, so i guess its a PAL version. there are games which are unavaliable in the PAL format which i would really like to play (eg the special edition of DMC3) and i would like to know how do i go about modifying my PS2 system so that it can play all regions? what do i need - software, hardware or can professionals do this in computer hardware stores?
