How old?

I don't have one, but before the days of USB, each manufacturer had a different connector for their external floppy drives.

Its fairly old, its a toshiba 3020ct. No drives, no OS. I want to put linux on it and just use it for work.
So i need a floppy drive to boot it (not cd bootable) and either a cd drive or network adapter to install linux. I can get the CD drive or the network card. But i dont really want to pay £30 for a floppy drive off ebay if i only intend to use it once.
The laptop has a USB but i doubt its bootable.
Any help would be wonderful.
