Boning

Postby seakrutt on Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:16 pm

For anyone interested in corsetry... I was in Glasgow today, and John Lewis sells metal boning. Sadly, they don't have the end caps for it, but you can improvise with elastoplast. If enough people are wanting boning, I could do a trip to Glasgow in the car.

Arse!! Spazzy retard Georgina didn't think to do something useful like note down the price did she?

Plastic boning is either about 50p a meter for the normal stuff (but you have to buy casing tape too; cost varies) or about £1.60 a meter for stuff with it's own casing that you sew straight in. They're possibly cheaper in Dundee than John Lewis. So I should imagine metal boning is somewhere between £1 and £3 a meter, at a guess. And of course you'd need casing tape.

As for what I think of a joint wenches-clothiers corsetry session... rrrrrrrrrrrock!!!

The latest update on boning... the material shop in Dundee by the bus station sells metal boning for £2.20 a metre.

A friend flagged this website up for our attention: http://www.venacavadesign.co.uk

It has corset-making supplies, tools, patterns, books, and even beginners' kits, all for what look to be very reasonable prices.
