Fife Park is likely to be demolished in 2007/2008. This is due to a number of factors - it was designed to last around 25 years when built in 1974, and so the structures are over their lifespan andthe windows are single glazed, to replace them would be a high cost. However, the main reason is that they don't meet the HMO licence requirements from Fife Council any more, but they have an exemption until 2007 from them.
When they do get demolished, DRA is unlikely to be expanded across Fife Park. This is mainly because at this end of town, land is not a problem for the university, they own the fields next to DRA anyway (not the sports ones) and they rent these to a farmer - if they wanted to build more blocks they would have done it while they had a team of builders here and all the facilities set up. To do it in 3 years would be much more expensive, and probably not cost effective.
