Actually, it was done by Keith Whitley first, but was more successful for AKUS when they recorded it for the tribute to him after his untimely death.

As for Ronan, well he has a habit of stealing other people's songs and letting people believe they're his.

See, I knew it was written by Keith Whitley, but I've never actually heard him sing it (despite having grown up listening to country music almost exclusively). That's really interesting.

As for the new Faith Hill, are you talking about the album with the song "Mississippi Girl" on it that came out in 2005? "Fireflies" I think it was called... I liked a few songs off of it, but some of them were not so good. Not worth buying as an album, but certainly worth downloading a few of the songs.

Top 10

Postby o_t4ng on Sun Aug 27, 2006 11:42 pm

As promised, here are the 10 songs I've been listening to most in the last month or so. In no particular order:

1. Atreyu- Right Side Of the Bed
2. Vendetta Red- Silhouette Serenade
3. Bullet For My Valentine- Tears Don't Fall
4. Lostprophets- Rooftops
5. Fightstar- Grand Unification Pt.1
6. Dixie Chicks- Taking The Long Way
7. Goo Goo Dolls- Let Love In
8. The Fray- How To Save A Life
9. Kutless- All The Words
10. Coldplay- Fix You
[hr]

Also, today's recommendations... I've been staying with Riho for the last week and we've been listening to a lot of Muddy Waters (album: Electric Mud) and Tom Waits. Not something I'd listen to all the time, but definitely awesome. If you're into a more bluesey rock groove, check them out.

As a contrast to the 10 recommended songs, here are 10 fantastic albums. Although after a year of living near my speakers, the original poster may disagree.

The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses
Pixies – Doolittle
Manic Street Preachers – The Holy Bible
The Velvet Underground – The Velvet Underground & Nico
Blondie – Parallel Lines
Talking Heads – Stop Making Sense
The La’s – The La’s
The Jesus & Mary Chain – Psychocandy
The Flaming Lips – Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Television – Marquee Moon

It's one song!! And it's pretty depressing. Also, I don't need a licence to mock anyone. :P

ALSO, you mock my 'emoness' all the time... but what were you listening to most last semester? Fall Out Boy...?

So? Some of the most emo emo music is acoustic... cf. Dashboard Confessional.

NB- to all music buffs, I'm talking about contemporarily labelled emo... I know Dashboard ad Fall Out Boy aren't actually 'emotinal hardcore' bands by the proper definitions.

They are "bad cheap imitations of goth" claiming to be "punk" which upsets the fuck out of me :(

"If punk and country made sweet, sensous, unprotected love, Emo would be the name of their whiny and depressed illegitimate bastard child."

Found somwhere on the big wide internet.

And this week on Blue Peter: how to turn any topic of conversation into emo bashing.

I get so confused when trying to distinguish between all the weird and wonderful genres of music.

Yeh, just found out (from another Sinner thread) that it's not totally resnet's fault.. it's actually a hardcoded feature of iTunes to limit connectivity to within your subnet.

So, if anyone can be assed downgrading... post on here and if enough people want to i'll find an installer file for one of the older itunes, whcih should solve the problem. BUt unless loads of us are willing to do this, there's not much point.

go for REALLY good german music (it's actually good ;-))---- die toten hosen, album: Nur zu Besuch: Die Toten Hosen - Unplugged im Wiener Burgtheater
very good album from the best german band ever... and unplugged (to be compared to nirvana unplugged, but not quite as depressing :D)
