Proposed modification to D-Block, St Salvator's Hall

Former, current and future residents of D-Block may find this interesting:

It would be great if you could email me your thoughts on the proposals to srcaccommodation@st-andrews.ac.uk before the beginning of Orientation Week.

I knew this would become a problem when they started putting fresher's in D-block. Back in my day it was for more 'senior' residents only who, myself included, liked the isolation.

Many of you have complained about:

- The isolation of D-Block
- Not being able to use the staff corridor
- Friends not being able to easily access D-Block
- Having to walk around the outside of the building to get to the main hall.

So, I'll be at Sallies to help D-Block residents compile a list of:

a) what's wrong with the current situation
b) the social and security implications
c) possible solutions.

This report will then be sent to the Residence Manager and the Director of Student Services, and will also be taken to the Residences Consultative Group.

With any luck, we'll be able to get the corridor joining D-Block and the main block opened up to students by the end of this academic year. This is also supported by the Warden, Dr Iain Munro.
