I'm in the same situation as you - just started psychology - so I emailed James Hartman a while ago to ask what to do.

"It would also be wise to have a good look at a statistics text book, there are a number with titles such as ...Stats for Dummies.....Stats Without Tears......Simple Stats...that kind of thing. What you really need to brush up on is the logic of experimental design."

I just bought Stats for Dummies on Amazon, costs around £7 or £8 if I remember correctly.
