Travelling up in September

I'm not, as I've been here all summer. However I found the GNER (KC to Abdn) relatively convenient (though never tried travelling on it at the beginning and end of term). When I used to get the train up at the start of term I often met new people from St Andrews which is a nice way to start the term. I think it is better not to come with your parents or get rid of them at the first opportunity to make the most of pre-sesh week.
