Suggestions for Events

What would people like the committee to organise over the rest of the year?

When suggesting, please bear in mind the following points:

1. We have no money.
2. The Union will not support us, either financially or through the use of their facilities.

My experience of Fife Park over the past few years suggests that a large proportion of Fife Park residents have little or no interest in socialising. This limits us in what we can do, and is also one of the major reasons for not charging subs.

three legged pub crawl - pretty much impossible from Fife Park to town, and pubs moan when you try and go in still tied up

party - sure, but where?

alcohol - always good,any suggestions? :P

Of course having a party just seems like a pain these days with those new restrictions in place - i mean if they have to be over by midnight we could go out to the pub and be allowed to party longer than that :P

EDIT: How about a barbeque where whoever wants to come donates a few quid towards the food, drink and stuff?

EDIT AGAIN: Although it is a bit cold for outdoor activities at the moment...

I had an idea for a winter barbecue affair.

Was going to brand it 'Baltic' and have a bonfire for people to roast marshmallows on. I thought that once DRA had gone through all the usual bullshit it wouldn't be worth it. I already know they'll say no bonfire, limited numbers, RA supervision, risk assessment possibly even refusing the barbecue as well.

We could do it but would have to be on the beach I think.

The problem with people bringing donations for food is that a)they don't pay and b)someone has to buy the food to start with.

Keep them coming though, I quite fancy a party on the beach. I've got some wood to burn and the kitchen units are looking a bit dated in my house so we could always throw them on...

I don't think we need a 'brand' for a bonfire mate. And anyway, I think we *might* get away with having it in the field - if anyone can rustle up some more wood (no pun intended) then it looks like we have a bonfire.

Let people bring food to the barbeque then, not money. Money is too much hassel, whereas if someone comes along with some food, they are helping the cause. I reckon you'd end up with alot more food than from just people bringing money along.

we should definately have an orgainised snow ball fight once the reeeally wintery nights come (odd numbers vs even) and a water fight in the spring. Anyone else feeling competitive?

but how do you propose to compensate for the vast superiority of the odd numbers?

(yes, very competitive).

So you suggest we stab each other with icicles? Would be a water fight, and would certainly be icy. :P

Brilliant suggestion for fife park based event.

Postby FifeParkDwellingToerag on Sat Dec 04, 2004 11:03 pm

Lets get all the fife park instrumentalists (anyone who can do anything barely musical) outside in this ghetto and have a massive outdoor Fife park jam one nice weekend.

More brilliant suggestions(note previous suggestion was not in jest)

Lets have an organized witch hunt, it should end in the burning of a witch (or witches if our efforts are exceptionally fertile). Or we could have an egg laying contest (to the death). most eggs before quenching wins.

I like the jam night idea.

And it is imperitive to keep playing after they tell you to shut down.

I can see it already

1 drumkit. (mine)
1 bongo. (Lukes)
110 guitars. (everyone has a guitar)
0 bass (there's never a bassist anywhere)
couple of cellos
flute.
Cake, and fine wine.

I can play a "bongo" type of instrument well and can contribute harmonica and limited keyboard and horn skills to the works.
