However, the wearing of an academic gown is done for academic tradition. The wearing of a union gown is done for no such academic reason at all, so it seems.

Those well known accademic positions of University Secretary, and Quaester for example?
perhaps?

About Association gowns or grandpa's inability to see reason?

I suspect that no one really gives a crap about Association gowns. Most people either like the idea or don't care one way or the other. Only grandpa is kept awake by the very idea of them.

As for his ability to always find new ways to be wrong... What can one say? Actually, quite a lot but he doesn't ever listen.

Ah the union and its incredible ability to discuss gowns, oh how i've missed it.

just as a point the association president wore the black gown with red facing until we had some refurbished/replaced by the after many days, but i can't for the life of me remember if it was dana or marcus who declared they should wear the umc theatre officers gown as it looked better than the presidents gown, you can certainly imagine both of them not wanting to be upstaged. the gown had formally been either union or or src presidents gown i believe, but had developed a big rip across the back. dana definately also wanted us (the vps) to wear unique gowns, which would have been a fine way to waste even more time and effort on something we wore for photoshoots once a year.

Marcus started wearing the red and blue, but do remember that previous presidents had both the black and maroon and the red and maroon in their dual capacity.

Unique VP gowns? As in a different one for each VP? Madness! But, still, only £300 or so, as nothing to what the SRC or UMC could waste in an hour.

Finally - Phil! How are you, old stick?
