NAME CHANGE!!!!!

Obviously I have an idea or two but I am not sure if most/any would agree.

As one who suffers from Dailysex (work out the anagram!!!!) acronyms are not good news.

I have called it Faggot Soc for years.

GaySoc was easier to write on cheques than theuniversityofstandrewslesbiangaybisexualandtransgenderedsociety.

We have never been QueerSoc, a very safe name.

But if anyone is on the ball then the T should now stand for Transperson, and thus remove the idea of gender spacific issues...

"Faggot Sco" is just plain offensive to most people.

Gay soc is arguably exclusive, while LGBTsoc is at least inclusive.

It's also a good idea to keep the name as something that freshers will recognise as being 'gay' without being cryptic or turning it into a secret gay society.

The constitution doesn't call it Gaysoc. I should know, I have a copy.

To the best of my knowledge, the society used to be called the Gay Society, but this was changed to LGB society in 1996 and then to LGBT in 1998.

The society, of course, was created in 1974 as the minorities society.

Uhm, the current constitution which was drawn up by Paul Denton in 2001. Not, of course, the constitution from way back in your day - which I believe is in a museum somewhere still written on its original piece of slate

Faggotsoc may be acceptable in the context of informal discussion between members, but may put off prospective members somewhat.
