Drunkeness in the middle of the day

Postby Anon. on Mon Sep 30, 2002 5:01 pm

HOw iss drunkenness in the middle of the day generally regarded? For e.g., today I had a copious amount to drink with my lunch at Broons, finishing off with a couple of brandy sours, and then I went to Luvians and bought a half-bot of Champagne which I consumed over the course of my Mediaeval history lecture and the rest of the afternoon, with the result that now, just before dinner, I am rather, actually make that very, wasted.

Several people I have met in the course of the day have deplored my conduct - is it the opinion of The Sinner that midday drunkenness is bad form?

Feedback would be welcome, and please forgive my innaccuracies of spelling etc etc.

sorry for my pretentious/effeminate choice of drinks, but I've never really acquired the taste for beer

I hope it does not alienate potential posters on this thread

Mid-day Drunkenness

Postby JJ on Mon Sep 30, 2002 5:13 pm

My dear boy - midday drunkenness is actively encouraged.

I entirely agree, if you can get through your normal day in a competant manner then you're doing much better than many people. If you can do so whilst becoming steadily more influenced by alcohol then more power to you. Those who make derogetory comments (pardon my spelling) are either putting to much stead in accepted social norms without stopping to apply them properly to your situation (are you in a position of responsibility? etc...) or are just envious of you 'jollified' state. Well, that's what I think anyway.

Well, 'Anon.', you'd have had to be drunk, because the combination of our conversation over dinner, and your inclusion of your own initials, now makes it blatantly obvious who you are!

drunkenness is always good...it helps you to forget a hell of a lot of things that would otherwise make you slightly down...not when you have a 9am lecture and a 10am turoial though...err...

Drunkenness is to be applauded at any time of the day or night. If, however, you are drunk in the afternoon from the excesses of the night before, you are to be especially commended.

Good choice of champaign incedentally. Early drinking should be actively encouraged. I, for example am sdrunk already.

Where's Betty these days? You know, the woman who would have posted something along the lines of,

'Disgusting wretches! Alcohol is the devil's plague and you're all going to burn!'

or something like that. Not that I necessarily agree, just feel that all this agreement and geniality needs livening up.

Perhaps she's in a sanatorium for people whose lives have been damaged by alcohol. I mean, something must have set her off.

You are drinking alcohol. It is making you drunk. Simple.

this person is a sad git who can't get through the day without getting pissed...do you do your work?

if not, fuck off, because that would be really offensive.

While I do feel very sorry for anyone who can't get through the day without alcohol, there really is no denying the fact that it can make the day far, far more fun.
