University won't return my deposit

The Cash Office is denying that I paid them a £50 deposit for my room in Gatty last year, which is why I haven't had it returned. Although I can't find my hall fees receipt I have a bank statement which shows I paid the full amount, which included the deposit, by cheque, way back last September. Can anyone find out for me exactly what the residence fees were for a 37 week contract in a 6 room Gatty house last year? I'm certain I haven't made a mistake but just want to be sure. And do I have a leg to stand on with this bank statement?

Help, need that fifty quid!

It's okay, sorted out now. Apparently I overpaid residence fees so they took bits off my tuition fee instalments. So they is right but I'd been looking forward to a bit of mulah. Pikey unemployed graduate that I am lol.
