Introduction

Welcome to the Community Portal for The Sinner's Guide to St Andrews. The Sinner's Guide is written by you - our users. The more people contribute, the better the Guide will be, so get writing! Many hands make light work...

Want to help out, but not quite sure where to start? Read on!

This Community Portal is meant to provide some general structure for those contributing to The Sinner's Guide.

For information on how to edit and create pages, as well as the conditions of use and a brief style guide, please check The Sinner's Guide to the Sinner's Guide.

General Ideas

  • If you're a student, why not contribute to the articles about your academic school(s)?

You probably already know some information about the departments, schools and modules you are taking, and this is a very easy way to get started. The Schools already have their own pages set up ready for more content.

  • Are you involved in any societies or sports clubs?

They also already have their own pages on The Sinner's Guide, so you can just add extra information to these pages.

  • Do you regularly frequent certain bars, pubs, or shops?

Many of these already have their own pages on the Sinner's Guide as well. If your favourite watering hole, coffee shop or boutique does not have a page already, you can easily create one!

Helping You!

We have created a series of Templates, so that there's a certain continuity throughout The Sinner's Guide. These make it easy for you to add content.

Infobox Templates

These are the little boxes which usually appear to the top right of pages in The Sinner's Guide, providing a summary of relevant information about that page.

Please use these infobox templates if you are creating or editing a page which falls into one of these categories!

There are currently Infobox templates for the following categories of content in the guide - we've provided an example of the use of each one as well.

More Infobox templates will be added as time progresses.

Categories

One reason why it's so important to use the Infobox templates provided is that doing so will automatically assign the article you are creating or editing to a specific Category. This provides a link back to the category from the page in question, and allows automatic indexes to be created.
