iTunes Pish

Postby Manic23 on Fri Feb 02, 2007 2:36 am

Right, I've looked everywhere oline for help with this, so finally I turn to the sinner for assistance.

I've saved a DVD onto my laptop which has been saved in avi format. I want to convert it to mpeg so I can upload it onto my iPod. Thing is, iTunes is being a prick and not letting me add it to my library, thus enraging me to a stroke-inducing degree.

Any ideas? I've tried all manner of programmes from filesharing (yes I know, bad Manic23) which claim they can do it, but they've all been shite. Please help before I eat my computer in frustration...

P.S. a pint to the first person who can successfully assist me in this. And maybe a bag of peanuts...

Yo,

if you are using mac at the moment there is a really good program called handbrake allowing you to rip a dvd or an image or an avi file to Mpeg-4 !
Otherwise for pc i used:
http://www.download.com/Video-to-AVI-WM ... ag=lst-0-8

Which is pretty good for AVI and Mpeg. Also itunes allows basics conversion of formats but nothing mojor like from AVI to MPeg, because it does not have licence for it.

You can do it from Quicktime if you were to buy/acquire a serial number to upgrade to Quicktime Pro. File->Export->Movie to iPod

BTW the iPod actually supports the 640x480 H.264 video but the screen is only 320x240

I use this for windows:

http://www.ipod-video-converter.org/

Converts any video (including DVDs) format that I can throw at it and converts it into the correct format for the ipod.

Unfortunatly if your not running windows then I see no other version. But you may be able to get it to run in WINE or something if your tech savvy enough?

you're all a bunch of gays. The greatest program for doing this is AVS Media Tools (www.avsmedia.com), this program does everything including converting to m4v files for your iPod and will even transfer the newly created file to your music player. It couldn't be easier.

If you use a Mac I'm no use unfortunately.
