Anyone staying on during summer?

Postby Hennessy on Wed Apr 16, 2008 12:16 pm

I'm signed on to stay up here during the summer and work for the university as a porter, is anyone doing anything similiar? Or for that matter is anyone staying up here at all? I know of only one student acquaintance who is, and frankly the conversation will probably dry up after a while if he's the only one I have to talk to!

I've stayed in St. Andrews over the summer for the last 3 years and its a totally different place to what it's like during term. It's a lot quieter and obviously it fills up with a load of golfers and tourists.

I'm staying here again for the 4th time this summer though I am yet to get myself a job!. Where are you working as a porter, DRA by any chance?

I'll be here for a good chunk of the summer. Not sure what I'll be doing for July though at the moment, will depend on job and accommodation-type things, I'm sure.

I stayed in St Andrews over the summer two years ago - it really is quite different, but can also be quite fun, if you have at least some people that you know around. You'll usually find a good few people staying in town that you know (certainly, the past few years, there have always been some of my friends here in the summer).

I will be here for a little while but moving to Dundee in July. Looking for a job or two which is proving to be fun as I am trying to be picky about getting one in something I want to do. I may give up in a bit and just beg employment from anywhere. Have stayed in St Andrews before and it really does feel different over the summer. Can get a little lonely though if pretty much everyone you know has buggered off.

Havent been assigned a ward yet, hopefully though it'll be Albany Park where I stay currently, it will be a lot easier as accomodation is apparently being provided either there or in Fife Park.

If your working for DRA/Fife Park/Albany you will most likely be posted to Fife Park to stay.

I have stayed here every summer (and all year) since 2002. I did have a brief spell in Edinburgh but comuting was justa bit too much.

I'm hoping to work as an assistant at DRA for the summer. I'm quite looking foward to it - beats sitting on my arse at home.

Its an absolutely amazing job if you stay in Fife Park. The party/cameradery atmosphere is amazing. The work can suck, but you get through it with a laugh and a smile.

I shall be here in the summer, though lord knows what i'll actually be doing :-P

Working in DRA is a good laugh, better than other halls because they check up on you much less often (if at all :P). Alas, as a near graduate, i find it beneath me to have to walk out there every day for work so i haven't applied this year ;-)

I'm staying, working as an assistant at DRA and hopefully living at Fife Park (as that's where I stay anyway, but I may get billeted over at Albany). I came up for a week last year and was amazed by how quiet it was, though I'm holding out for better weather this summer :)
