What happened to the Rohyphnol thread? I may have been slightly hungover this morning but I don't think I hallucinated its existence earlier today..

If it got deleted, then that's fucking stupid because if it served no other purpose than raising awareness for the danger that is drink spiking THAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR UNION, then it would have made it worthwhile.

Mods- please explain why this was deleted?

If it was for 'tarnishing the image of the union'- then please grow up, there are more important things here than reputation.

Not to mention the fact that the Union themselves have warning posters up, so it's something they want people to be aware of.


The only reason I can think of for intentionally deleting the thread would be if it were a hoax, and therefore possibly causing unnecessary panic, but that doesn't mean that a lot of what was said in the thread (watch your drink etc.) was unsound advice.

I started that thread yesterday.
To recap, a friend told me that her friend was spiked in the union on Tuesday night. Another girl then posted as she had been spiked too, along with some of her male friends- although in the second case it may not have happened in the Union.
Why was this post removed?
Look, whoever removed it, there may be posters in the union, but posters often get ignored, perhaps warnings here may not.
I am suggesting that we all be careful, perhaps leaving drinks unattended is unwise. And if you happen to see someone slipping something in someones drink inform the people at the table when they return and let security know.

yeah in the original thread i added that my drink had also been spiked on Tuesday night but not in the union. it was most definitely not a hoax and i don't understand why such a post would be deleted.
it was only there to remind people to be careful.

Yeah I was wondering why it was removed - I'm glad you thought to post it on here Chap, thanks (you are right, I hadn't even noticed the posters in the union!). I know I for one am a bit blasé with my drinks in the Union(well, St. Andrews in general) and too often find myself of the "it won't happen in St. Andrews" attitude.

Shouldn't have been deleted. I can't think why, there was one about a year and a half ago that remained for a number of weeks until it just dropped due to inactivity. I'll investigate.

I think this was the similar thead that was started about a year and a half ago. Another one started by me after a friend of mine was spiked at the Union. Many people expressed astonishment that such a thing could happen at our friendly local Union, so I made sure people were aware it did.

It's odd. Don't think the union or university would delete a thread like that. They're usually very good at dealing with this sort of thing.

i know sometimes threads that mention incidents that are under investigation are sometimes deleted, like one about doorstaff i seem to remember a while back. but, i, too, am at a loss as to why this one was deleted given that the union has various anti-spiking campaigns...

Just to clarify, the union and / or university (in theory) have no say over the sinner, it is independent of both.
