What's going on with Google? My homepage has an "i" on the front of it like it's some Apple product.

"Google Personalised Homepage" was too simple and unambiguous to leave alone, you see.

is the whole "i" infront of a word apple?

because i saw something interesting the other day... this graphics software called iClone (not made by apple) after a year of being on the market has made a massive amount of sales and is already on V2.0. Now i think this is partly due to the i infront of it and peoples (mis)conceptions that anything which starts with a lowercase "i" must be made by apple, and thus must be a quality product. Am i wrong?

See Cisco vs Apple 2007. Apple does not own the i[blank] trademark (and I doubt you could ever own such a mark).

Compaq even. Though now made by Hewlett-Packard who have nothing to do with Packard-Bell.

a severe case of pedantic misquoting... the key word in that sentence was "(mis)conceptions".

And if that wasnt a dig at whether Apple do make quality products or not, but saying that my assumption of what people chose based on such conceptions was wrong, please enlighten me as to why...

Back on topic, here is the explanation: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6611571.stm

On an aside, Apple and Google announced a mutual partnership at the MacWorld Expo last winter which is probably why the "i" is being used.

www.google.com/ig has been around for ages. The 'i' bit is new, but they haven't really changed much else otherwise.

I have no idea what you are asking, but Apple's support are shit.

I have had so many things go wrong with Apple products and they simply do not give a shit. I bought an expensive MacBook and it died within 3 weeks. Found out one of the of the boards was bad. If I'm paying close to 1000 pounds for a product - it shouldn't die within the first month. They also made me pay shipping as that is their policy.

iPods were even worse. When they first came out mine had to be replaced twice in the first year, and then it died soon after that - but I wasn't going to pay to have it fixed again. Why should I have to buy the extended warranty? Nevermind the fact that I've had three friends with the same issues.

Just ranting really...

[To clarify: Yes, in the quote I was saying that apple products are not quality.]
