I didn't enjoy Belleruche at all, but was pleasantly surprised by The Official Secrets Act and Ingrosso.

Good banter!

I've been to every one of them over the last four years. This years Ball was, by miles, the worst I have ever been to. It was pretty much the opening ball set up and the atmosphere was dire. Such a shame.
Tough to say what the reason was, perhaps the limited ticket thing? Not queuing for a drink was great, but apart from that....I don't know if the rumours about the Farm being booked out as a practical joke/up yours to the K.K are true. If they are then shame on you whoever did it. Then again, K.K/Toff bashing is a staple diet of so many people at this uni. I dare say lots of people found it really funny. Weird. On the other hand if the K.K simply thought the smaller venue thing was a good idea then perhaps they should reconsider that for next year. Not having fun rides and so on was a pity.

Well, we noticed when driving home last night that there were signs on the main road directing people to a wedding at Kinkell Farm, so seems as though it was genuinely booked.

There certainly was a wedding in the Golf Hotel yesterday, with beautiful old cars. That might explain it if the reception was at Kinkell.

I didn't enjoy the May Ball that much. The atmosphere wasn't great. Official Secrets Act were good. The paninis were godawful, plastic cheese in a roll for £2 is not cool as for 50p extra the Rendez-Vous or Gorgeous could do something so much better. The 'fete' packed up pretty early as well.

I don't feel it was worth what I paid.

It could be that the owner of Kinkell is charging more and more, and the KK don't think it's a reasonable sum to pay for a converted barn, 4 miles out of town.

Although the marquee hire may be more, surely the lack of transport fees would outweight that. Also, the convenience of the location is better, no?

I had fun at the ball, but in my efforts to make the most of my gold ticket, I think I overdid the free champagne! I thought Official Secrets Act were great, especially when they played that Beatles cover. All My Loving, I think it was.

2005 was the best in my memory. the bar lines were a bit shit but I had a friend who was working security on the fast track Bar that took care of that problem. But come on GROOVE ARMADA. Nothing in this town has come close since I have been here.

Shoulda gone to the bop ;-)

(By the looks of it, some people actually *left* the ball to go the Bop, which is pretty ridiculous if you ask me)

I am glad I was on the bar at the ball and not paying to go. It appeared to have no atmosphere and from the music I could here it didnt sound that great.

The KK are a bunch of pretentious monkeys who should be made to hand over the organisation May Ball to someone who has some semblence of sense. I had the £80 dinner ticket and wish I could have a refund. The starter was processed chicken from subway and the duck main was the most overcooked trash I've ever had. The creme brulee was premade and transported. For a £50 dinner I expected real food. Olli Markeson's grace was as ridiculous as his jacket. The fact that they decided to spend £600 on novelty credit card tickets while they just ply their paying guests with cheap wine so they don't care how bad the food is is telling about the organisational skills of these guys. They care more about the image they project than they do about the quality of what they put out. Further, they certainly don't care about "charity" they do it becuase they like to play at being in mommy and daddy's social scene. The fact that they were missing the fair rides and hired second rate music was pretty disappointing as well. Basically, someone needs to sort those boys out so this doesn't happen anymore.

I enjoyed the ball more than last year.

I thought it was fantastically well organised and preferred the more open and laid out setting. My girlfriend and I found it easier just to wander around and felt less cramped as we were in Kinkell.

Official Secrets Act were surprisingly good, they're no Pigeon Detectives though; and it was nice not to have my DJ/her ball dress covered in mud the next morning.

Overall, well done to the KK I say.

The KK told the Saint that they had the option of holding the event at Kinkell Farm but turned it down. Apparently they hadn't even heard about the rumour above and chose to hold the May Ball in town.

I would like to retort to the individual who claimed that 'the grace was as ridiculous as his jacket' at the may ball.

I admit, my jacket was ridiculous. The grace, however, was not. It was the university grace: sit nomen domini benedictum, periasum christum, salvatorem nostrum, amen.

I must say that the KK have been much more open and honest about their charitable work in the past year than in previous years, which has done much good (I believe) for their image.
