What music do u listen to before a night out?

Postby Dancing Queen on Sun Mar 21, 2004 5:57 pm

As I prance around my room getting ready for the New Hall Ball, a wonderment pops into my head. What music do you listen to while your getting ready for a night out to get you into the mood for fun. I find I have to listen to a certain type of music to get me into the mood and put me in a certain frame of mind ready for fun.

For me, before going out for the night, I have to listen to my albums of Sophie Ellis- Bextor. Yes, I know, maybe some, or a lot of you will think she's incredibly naff, but I love her, and her music is perfect for me before going out. If you pass my room any Friday evening you will here her blurting out and you'll know I have plans.

However, a good tune I use 1st thing in the morning to put me in a happy bouncy mood is Nelly Furtado's "Turn Off The Light"

So do other people have a similar essential mood-setting music? Or am I just a bit of a disco-freak?

top oh-my-god-i-just-can't-stop-myself-from-dancing tunes would be disco down by shed seven, murder on the dancefloor by sophie ellis bextor and givin' up by the darkness. Yes it's about heroin addiction, but you can't help but dance to it.

Idlewild gets me going as do The Music, The Streets and Radio 4. And sometimes Embrace if I fancy indulging in some 90s indie throwback to your youth type stuff.

Any current mainstream dance. At least that way, no matter what music is playing when you're out, It can only be better than what you were listening to before :)

If I'm going out to the bop its gotta b cheeeeeeesey pop! Luckily my friend has an amazing cd which she made with everything from Christina's 'Dirty' to that 'Big Butts' song, its great! If I'm just going out for a drink somewhere any up beat stuff, 'All American Rejects' is pretty good :)

I normally listen to some loud rock of some type - metal, punk or kinda indie rock, as long as it is not too depressing. Depressing indie music is fantastic in many situations however there is a time and a place for it - and that is not when you are about to go out. Thats a time to feel happy!

There are some fantastic internet radio stations out there, which play good music too.

Also i agree with the above, All American Rejects DO kick ass.

Something loud and with more guitar riffs than words.......usually metal or hard rock. Particularly like Drowning pool before a night out on the piss.........

Depends how I feel, but for a ball...something heavy or with a nice beat such as Ignite, Suicidal Tendencies, or maybe even nirvana.

Otherwise, random stuff from my now extreamly extensive collection of MP3's, blurs greatest hits never fail, nor do any songs by the amazingly talented band known as 'the decemberists'.

Sometimes I don't listen to music, sometimes I watch a film cos I get less distracted with a film than with music...And if anyone is interested in the film its called 200 Cigarettes, its an MTV production so its got great music in it anyway....But otherwise it would have to be this CD I made from various songs downloaded from Kazaa...It includes some Basement Jaxx, Chemical Brothers, the Strokes...etc

wow - i had forgotten about that song. it's still really good, especially the Chris Vrenna Tweaker remix.

also worth investigating is clocks by moped, Scooter's tribute band covering Coldplay's masterpiece.

No, it really isn't. Although they do do the random, "Aieee!" bit which always amuses me.
