No Bitter and Twisted, no Fraoch... in fact no real ales in the poll:-( Just lager, 70-/ and Guinness.

I hope that Budweiser means the 'real' budweiser and not that mass produced pish that comes from the US

There is nothin more boring than enthustics real ale fans. Nobody cares if you think ale is better than the "piss" they happen to be drinking.

That's not Budweiser - it's Budvar.

Erdinger is where it's at.

Funny, I suggested this poll about two months ago, and thought admin thought it was a bit shit, so they didn't bother with it.

Suppose it's better late than never

Polls can take ages to be put up, but I think most of them get there in the end. I mean, even mine did, so whoever selects them can't be all that picky.

I do feel the poll could have done with a real ale option! A friend and I actually drank a pub out of real ale the other night and I attempted a pint of Belhaven best. I've discovered that if you start on something like best then move onto decent beers the best tastes 'ok' however going the other way round it tastes absolutely manky! I

And here's an interesting wee nugget of info: Did you know that Stella is made side by side with Tennents Lager in the Tennents brewery in Glasgow? Apparently Staroprammen is also about to be made in Glasgow!

Wow! Only managed to include one genuine Real Ale! I would have at least included:

Bitter and Twisted
Old Peculiar
Some form of 80/-
Perhaps something from Houston

Trouble is for the Real ale drinker there is so much choice compared to the average lager drinker... It is virtually impossible to put down a decent poll! For Example, among my favourite ales is Traquair's Jacobite ale but I'm guessing most folk won't even have heard of it (although it came in at no. 17 in ratebeer.com's recent competition of the world's best beers!.)

Real Ale's much more regionally variable. I live in Durham so I tend to go for Castle Eden and Northumberland Blonde, but I doubt you get them much elsewhere. Thats the fun of Real Ale, each different par of the country has its own specialties.
