Punched in the face

Postby rubbermuffin on Sat Nov 20, 2004 11:05 am

Me and my mate neil were walking from market st to south st last night at about 1.45am and there was a guy urinating on the fence. He shouted 'I just pissed on your hand' at neil, but we carried on walking but then neil realised the guy had peed on his shoe. So Neil started walking back to ask the guy what he was up to, but I stopped him and we carried on walking towards where the flats are, at which point the guy comes up after us. He kept saying 'no cameras' and tried to provoke us into fighting him.

Neil turned round to face the guy but was not squaring up and I got between the guy and Neil. Then I got smacked in the face. Then again. Then Neil got smacked in the face twice, and was bleeding. We didn't retaliate, and we didn't do anything to provoke the attack.

My 3rd year here and I've never seen anything like it. Btw, we're pretty sure the guy was a local. What is this town coming to?

Didn't the barman in the Vic get his nose broken last night (or sometime this week)?
I hold an element of surprise

Town can get a bit dodgy when theres drunk locals around. A couple of my mates got the shit kicked out of them by N.E.Ds down by the gas station. Theres was also a group of guys who like to drive around in a car and slash students in the face. Thing is, any town is like this. In Cambridge for example theres a psycho cyclist that attacks people as they walk home, gotta be careful and dont delude yourself that just because you are in St Andrews nothing is going to happen to you.

I had people trying to start something just because I wore a pink shirt. As anyone who knows me will testify, I'm about as yah as an otter, so why I got the haterz is beyond me.

What do you mean you did nothing to provoke the attack? Your pal went up to ask the guy what he was up to? Did he think the guy was going to turn round and say "Oh sorry young chap, i am indeed immensely sorry for urinating on your shoe"

WTF man? And why didn't the two of you kick the living shite out of him? I've got no sympathy, except for the fact he pissed on your mates shoe...

from my reading he was stopped long before that happened, and the local/ned had decided to follow them.

I agree with Mr Watters. No real sympathy - your mate went back, a while after you'd walked past, and had a go at him. Admittedly, he shouldn't have pissed on the shoe.

Really, unless you want to initiate a fight it's best not to do anything than continue at a brisk pace, regardless of the urine content of shoes.

Still it goes to show the prince was right about the locals being warm and friendly, eh?

No my mate didn't have a go at him. And retaliation is never the answer. The guy wanted us to hit him, but we didn't because he was a loser and we're better than that.

That really is one of the stupidest things I've ever read. So when you're on the ground getting beaten to death you'll think of yourself as a martyr, eh?

i got punched in the face last year by a local. unprovoked as anyone who knows me would assume. after hitting me the local walked off somewhere else.

i have a lot to preserve as far as i'm concerned. i felt i had far more to lose by allowing myself to be drawn into a fight than the local did.

fucking glad i didn't try & lamp him back.

slightly different situation to the above as there were two of them to one of me but the point is pretty much as valid.

i reported the incident but didn't feel the need to press charges should they find the bloke.

An unfortunate thing I've learned throughout life is that if it comes to the need to use violence, something has gone wrong.

However, that said, when something goes wrong, you don't just keep letting it go wrong. At that point, you put an end to things, and sometimes threatening, or engaging in, violence is the best option.

When someone decided to fight you, and for whatever reason, you can not remove yourself from their presence, you defend yourself. You fight back until they stop fighting, then you stop.

Many people will say that if you use violence to defend yourself, you are just as bad as the attacker. That is nonsense. So long as you don't keep hitting them after they give up, that is.

But he pissed on your mates shoe and lamped the both of you, there is a line that can be crossed.

Personally (And I by all means don't go looking for fights) if someone pissed on my shoe and then decked me, I'd cut his fucking teeth out.

But that's just me

Well, coming from the country that invented Kneecapping as an effective way of chastising young scallywags who step out of line, I know that that would also be a good area to inflict
pain on the NED, so I suppose i'd give it due consideration.

Works better with a baseball bat/Gun though. I would suggest just giving him a swift boot in the gonads, then leaving the imprint of your size 11 Caterpillar boots on his forehead, then pegging it down the nearest country lane.
