Question about module choice

Postby Garnet on Wed Nov 30, 2005 4:00 pm

I was wondering if it is possible to choose subjects that are on at the same time. I am thinking about studying IR and Mediaeval History trouble is for next semester they are on at the same time, but for second year they are on at different times and honours is fine as well, so it would just be for one semester. Also i noticed in the prospectus it states that one can study for a joint degree in both.

I am studying IR at the moment and Mediaeval History requires 3 passes out of the 4 semesters that make up 1st and 2nd year so i wouldn't need any extra classes

I tried to get the uni to allow me to study 2 modules that were on at the same time in my first year-but i got a firm no.

It is true you just need 3 out of 4 semesters for Med Hist.So if you havent taken it this semester you can take it up next semester and all of second year and still be able to do it to honours-thats what i did.

If you're unable to drop IR for a semester (ie next semester) to do med hist then your going to have problems geing able to do it for degree.

My advice would be to ask your advisor of studies asap.

It is possible to study two modules that clash on the timetable. You just need to convince the faculty that you can cope

I took up an extra module in week 8, it clashes with one of my existing modules. To date I have attended no lectures, man am I looking forward to that exam!
