Morning After Pill

What's the dealio here? Where do you get them? What do you ask for? Who do you ask? How much do they cost?

Been quite careful with doing it recently, but last night we found that a condom had burst and althought we're quite close to period-time/end-of-cycle, we'd rather be safe than sorry (or rather: we'd rather be safe than nine-months-of-pregnancy and a bouncing baby...).

Please, Sinners, tell us what needs to be done, to whom we need to speak and so forth!

Get yourself to the pharmacy at Boots (or any pharmacy, I believe) and they'll give you it, for a fee of about £25. I believe some places do it for free, but the good people at Boots will tell you where this is if you're skint/desperate. Most effective in the first twelve hours and then decreases down from there over the 72 hours.

If you go to the health centre/hospital, they'll give you a prescription, so that Boots will give it you for free.

Its quite easy really, you can just go into boots and ask for it, plus you get the bonus of them giving you free condoms at the same time.

You can also get one from the doctor. You can take it up to 3 days after you had "the accident".

Hope this helps!!!

boots don't do them anymore. the pharmacy that's close to the health centre will give it to you for free (they'll have a chat with you in a private room first) without having to go to the health centre.

And for future reference, you can get free condoms from the Union. Ask the door staff, or the student officers on the middle floor.

Hey,

Thanks alot everyone!

We got up to the pharmacy by the SPAR in good time. The chemist was really nice and everything went okay. For free, too.

Hopefully this should be the end of the matter and a big thankyou to all who responded.

Cheers!

Is it free for students now? I remember having to pay circa £7 for one which as I was broke at the time was extremely annoying. You can reclaim the cost but it is a pain.
