Can someone remind me what the grade needed to enter honours is? Is it a 12 or above, or an 11 or above?

It depends on the course. Its usually an 11 though. Some will also allow an average of 11.

Others will allow appeal with 'almost' an 11.

I hate it when they all appear at once, it scares you for a second. I've now officially got a degree, woohoo! Absolutely delighted with my dissertation mark, actually I've got my 2 highest marks in honours.

Weirdly I've managed to do about a mark better overall in maths than philosophy, and I'm going on to do a masters in philosophy. Strange. Still though, for those who maintain that arts subjects are 'easier' than science...

Some schools also require a 15 when entering into a Masters program for Honours.

Ah yes, because comparing how one person did between one arts subject to one science subject without taking into account time spent on each of those subjects, clearly ends that argument ...well done sir.

I imagine that 'end the argument' is EXACTLY what WashingtonIrving was trying to do.

And should anybody post on thesinner ANYTHING that does not constitute flawless deduction of truth from first principles, shame on them for participating in dialogue.

Obviously every piece of evidence for something is understood to be conclusive by any reasonably intelligent being. Thats how science works, right?

That is a joke, right? (A question based on the fact that I really can't decide whether its a joke or not, not that I think you are being serious.)

A discussion on the sinner?

Step 1. User posts a question/social comment
Step 2. 2-12 Users reply to the OP.
Step 3. Someone makes a wild statement either on topic or at a confusing tangent.
Step 4. 1-50 users take issue with 3.
Step 5. Someone tries to reply to OP, but is ignored.
Step 6. 1-50 users agree with 3.
Repeat steps 4-6.

You forgot Step 2.1, RobFOWB trolls amusingly.

2.2 exnihilo takes offence at the attitudes or behaviour of the youth of today and moans that x,y or z is nothing like back in the good old 90's.

Otherwise accurate.

According to the Academic Calendar, the deadline for module result reporting was 1pm. I note that this time has passed, yet I still have no results. Very annoying.

Minor bit of pedantry, but you don't officially have a degree until it is awarded to you in your graduation ceremony.

Yeah I agree. Though it says "The deadline for Schools to report all Semester 2 and year-long modules is Monday 9 June 2008 at 1pm." And that "All module results will therefore be available by Tuesday 10 June 2008." So it'll all be up from like 1am later.

Yeah - they (at least used to) do some kind of nightly update thing. Check at around 2AM.

In which case, they're breaking Senate regulations, but like so many departments in this university, I susupect nobody is prepared to say anything - just like a friend who didn't get his Martinmas grade until 2 weeks later because the course co-ordinator fucked off to somewhere-far-away without bothering to tell anyone.
