How many people have you slept with in the university? Honestly?

This message board is for discussing anything in any way remotely connected with St Andrews, the University or just anything you want. Welcome!

What confuses me is your basically not friends with these people anymore . . . because they didn't seem to be active? How would that really be relevant to your friendship (unless they judged you for being active)? I'm 23 and I know people who are very active and quite a few who I suspect/know ('cos we're close) aren't. That wouldn't affect my friendship - and I certainly wouldn't draw conclusions about their attitude/beliefs/desires. I know I should let this thread go, but *aargh*

I'm kind of curious about the school pressure idea. At my school, there was one group that started really young (like 13) and another where it was never talked about.

...hence the rampant inbreeding of many an academic family.

Missed this first time round. Choose your daughters carefully! I did. ;)

...then again, that is only my opinion.

Just because some people don't talk about their sexual habits and experiences doesn't mean they are celibate or don't have interesting sex lives. I don't mind other people talking about their experiences, but I personally like to keep mine to myself for the most part.

Also, I don't think numbers are really that important. You can have drunken sex with loads of random people after nights out and never have a very good or truly intimate experience. Personally, I have no moral problem with casual sex but I choose not to do it because it doesn't appeal to me.

I think the average was perhaps one, the median certainly zero and the record perhaps four.

If the median's 0 who was having negative sex? If you haven't got shagged in ages does your number of sexual encounters go down?!

It does if you take it per year.

"The entirety of these definitions lie outside the gamut of the sRGB color space — such a pure color cannot be represented using RGB primaries. The color swatch to the right is a desaturated approximation, created by taking the centroid of the standard definition and moving it towards the D65 white point, until it meets the sRGB gamut triangle."
I'm not a large water-dwelling mammal Where did you get that preposterous hypothesis? Did Steve

The median is 0 so long as over half of people's number is 0. It's also possible he meant mode, though if the median is 0, the mode would be 0 also.

You mean to say that a sinner thread has degenerated into a debate ABOUT MATHS? And I thought religion was bad enough!

If good sex was positive and bad sex was negative, I'd hope that my median would get as far as zero :<

I suspect not as I suppress a lot of the related memories.

Sorry about this 10 day late reply... believe it or not i actually have other things to do than check wats going down on the sinner!
You've completely read way too far into this... their sexual activity had absolutely no bearing on the fact we are not friends now. We simply did just not have that much in common and moved in different directions for other reasons. But the reason I said 'it's safe to say' is because I did feel quite judged by them as they always wore disapproving looks when I would bring anything up things like this in conversation. And I don't want to be friends with judgemental people, so it's 'safe to say' i'm not.

I've suddenly become quite aware that this thread might just look like a tragic attempt to raise my self-esteem by bragging about how many people i have slept with. I just want to clear up that this was not the case. I was genuinely interested in hearing about people's views on sex in st andrews. I'm very satisfied with what i've heard so thank you everybody.
