I cant wait!!! I reckon Harry's gonna find out he's related to Voldemort and that his Mum was evil. Don't have a clue about who's gonna die tho.

could be. maybe his parents are still alive and in league with voldemort. unlikely though that either of his parents were evil. it could be that he's in some way related to dumbledore. it's so long to wait!

Yey, I can't wait either - only FIVE months to go!!! I know that it's being offered for 1/2 price on Amazon, but if you add postage and packaging it comes to £11.42.
There might be bookshops who will be selling it for less when it comes out. Does anyone know or seen if any highstreet shops have pre-ordering offer on it?

Is that a definate or a rumour?

Oh, I just remembered Sal, I have some 'TTT S.Ons' quotes to share with you...but not here! ;)

I'll expect S.Ons quotes from the new HP book within at least a week of it coming out, you know that don't you?

WHEEE!

And that is about as much coherency as you are going to get from me on this :D I'm too hyped up to even think about theories, and I usually do all the time! As for Gary Oldman as Sirius- excellent choice. I'm well impressed by that one.

Gary Oldman as Sirius Black is a definate. Yay!

Strong rumours are David Thewlis for Lupin and Tim Spall (my choice. I've said him all along) for Pettigrew.

Oh, and Pam Ferris is a definate for Aunt Marge. She'll be fantastic. If she can be as scary as she was in 'Matilda' she will be perfect

David Thewlis? Hmmm. You know, he never crossed my mind as a possible Lupin. I've seen him play lots of nasty characters ('Gangster #1', anyone?), I'd be interested to see how he'd handle Nicest Guy In The World. He was nice in Seven Years in Tibet I suppose...on another (related) point, is it just me or does David Thewlis look a bit like a young Alan Rickman?

And you're right, Timothy Spall would be a perfect Pettigrew. He's the only man for the job IMHO.

He plays a lovely Puritan priest in Restoration, so I've seen him do nice. I think he'd be great (if he is truly cast as Lupin), and at least they haven't bow to the pressure of the fangirls and cast Ewan McGregor

It might just be me - I've probablly just forgotten, but who will be playing Dumbledore in the future?

I can't wait for book five either, but June is AGES away!!! At least it's not coming out in our exams in MAy - we would all be F*%$ed! It's going to be 1/3 longer that Goblet of Fire! Bring it on!!!

Has anyone else got the HP quiz book? It's quite good but some of them questions are pretty obscure, like:
"How many Galleons was Arthur Weasley fined for bewitching a Muggle car?" (CofS-Q.238) How are you supposed to remember that!?! Or:
"How many seconds does it takea Firebolt to accelerate from 0 to 150 mph?" (PofA Q.255) Er well I don't know. If anyone knows the answers (WITHOUT looking them up, obviouslly) then you must REALLY know your Harry Potter!
I think we should have a HP quiz?

Enough rambbling for today - I think I'm going to feel sorry for myself because of my exams boohoo!

Pre-ordering

Postby Cain on Sat Jan 18, 2003 1:07 pm

One thing that you guys should find out about preordering is if it is SENT OUT on the release day or if it is DELIVERED on the release day.

I've had some miserable days with waiting for preorders to come in when i could have gone down the road and picked my CD/DVD up at the shops.

i know that Harry Potter is a book, but SplashDVD will send it out the thursday before, so that you get items on release day, but CDWow.com, will do it the other way around. i don't know how Amazon.com does it. any ideas anybody?

It might be better to reserve your book at a proper book shop and pick it up on the saturday morning when it's out rather than order online.
I hold an element of surprise

Dumbledore will now be played by Gandalf, Sir Ian McKellen. Better choice I think than the other contender Christopher Lee, he would have been well too scary.

Two Questions

Postby James on Sat Jan 18, 2003 2:03 pm

1 - The new release is all well and good, but how long will it take them to get sorted with Stephen Fry doing the audio version? If anyone knows the general delay between release of books and release of tapes, please let me know.

2 - Amazon not only sell Harry Potter, but also an "adult" version. What? Does this have the long-awaited scene where Harry tells Malfoy to "F*** Off!"? Does it contain a raunchy love scene between Harry and Cho Chang? Or does Ron finally cast a successful spell enabling him to have x-ray vision to see through the girls' robes? What is an adult Harry Potter book?

I didn't think Ian McKellan had confirmed, and that they were leaning more towards Michael Gambon for Dumbledore. On www.mckellan.com, Ian said that he had not been offered the role, but another British knight had - Michael Gambon

And the adult Potter books have got black and white covers. So they look all serious like. So it doesn't look like their owners are reading Harry Potter. Bastards

No idea about the tapes, but they usually take about 6 months for them to come out after the release of thebook, so it'll be probably around Christmastime. How conveniant...

*really knows far too much about this subject*

the adult harry potter books have an 'adult' cover, ie. not a child's picture on the front, apparently it's for adults who want to read the books but who don't want to be seen reading what looks like a childrens book.
