ghd straighteners

Does anyone know where I can get hold of these at the cheapest price? I've heard a lot of good stuff about them but they're a bit on the pricey side...

i wanted ghds, but you can only buy them off salons or direct from the suppliers (how you do that i DONT know) or on ebay

In my work, we were having huge debates about it but they are getting difficult to come by. However, i bought Ceramic-tech straighters (£100!) and they are fantastic. I got them from 'sallys' and they are just as good, professional and are slightly bent so you can do the back of yr head easier.

I cannot believe i spent that much but i dont regret it. They are brilliant... its the vainest thing ive ever done, but now, for the first time in my entire life my frizzy scary spice mess is now lovely and straight.

Mind you, ive never paid more than £15 for a haircut/style, so i reckon theyre worth all the money ive saved

I don't really want to be spending anywhere near 100 squid cos I don't think they're going to make a really noticeable difference to me and I'm rubbish with all things hair related so probably won't make the most of them anyway.

There's so many straighteners out there now it's impossible to choose. There's other ceramic ones not ghd but I don't know if they're worth looking at.

Have had a shufty into all things eBay but am a wee bit chicken. Anything down the more conventional route?

Are they any better for your hair than normal straighteners?

Thankfully I've discovered the wonders of straightening balm and a good hairdryer.

I've had some for about a year and they are fabulous - I've got really thick hair & they really work. I'm forever burning myself on them though so watch out.

Apparently they are better for your hair because of something to do with ions. Don't ask me what though.

The cheapest way to get them is through a hairdressing wholesalers, so if you know a hairdresser, get asking them.

Are ghd the best ceramic straighteners then? The cheapest I've found then at is 85 pounds, which isn't all that cheap really.

There seems to be soooooo many ceramic straighteners out there. I have fairly straight hair to start with, but like the shine that straightening your hair gives you and I sometimes need to stop my hair from doing its own thing.

Any more thoughts?

Argos in town are doing a 10% off thing for Students if you spend over £30 when you show your student card. They sell hair grooming products. Get quite a lot of things from there!

I'm a ghd addict!!! I actually cannot live without them... worth every penny of the 95squid i paid and even more! Sad tho it may seem, they are the best thing i have ever bought. However my original pair were faulty and blew up last semester, scaring the crap out of me and also leaving me with 2 weeks of frizz until i got them replaced. Now however my hair is continually straighter than... a very straight thing.

The hair salon at the end of market street,called Charlie Taylor (it's at the end opposite the union) have the ghd stuff, no idea what price tho, but my sis has just average ceramic straighteners, and besides from them being ridiculously narrow, they're good.

How hard IS it to do the back of your head?! I'm sure the back of my head goes round with a completely different hairstyle than the rest but out of sight, out of mind I say (tho that would explain the looks...)

I came across (hmmmm like I've not been looking...) these solid ceramic straighteners from Argos (hee hee if there's that discount cos they're def over 30 quid) for 50 quid. They've got a curved handley thing to help the wee back of the head problem.

What does everyone think? Worth getting or shall I just shell out for the ghd ones?

i dunno, im still singing for the ceramic-tech camp!

I think the fact that £50 in argos still expensive that i felt a bit obliged to go for the even MORE expensiveones, altho that may also have been because i was finally earning a bit more cash. Maybe we should get the psychology department on that one.

my staighteners are bent and its is really useful to do the back of my hair, i cant quite explain how... but it does allow easier manoevering thru my mop of a hairdo. my hair is also very very long so it saves a bit of effort on trying to bend my arms into all sort of positions to get a straight run from the roots to the tips.


come on, go for it!!! SPEND THE MONEY!!!! honestly, its painful handing it over, but you wont regret it... think about it - lovely straight hair....

I have stupidly fine hair which I would say is fairly straight normally but even I've had my hair straightened with the ghd ones and, by gum, they are magnificent. You can do all sorts of things with them aside from just straightening, like flicking your hair out, lovely jubbily, or even curling your hair. Curling your hair with straighteners. With straighteners! Genius.

I got my girlfriend some very good Futura Fransen Ceramic ones from ebay. About £45 I think and she loves them.

In prep to buying them, I looked up a review which compared them to ghd ones, and there's practically no difference between them. The ghd ones are slightly better but it's not worth £50.

God I'm being such a girl!

Well, you sort of curl your hair into like a spiral and put the whole spiral in the straighteners (which is difficult, it must be said) and then keep it there for a couple of seconds aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand..TAA-DAA! Curly hair!

That is quite cool actually though I think it might be wasted on someone like me who is completely inept at anything hair related.

I've heard about the Futura Fransen ones, but apparently, they're a lot worse for your hair than the ghds.

Well it's my brithday in exactly a month now so perhaps if I drop enough hints about the ghds, someone who loves me very much can take out a second mortage to get me some.
