Re:

I've got to say, I think the best way to support the victims at the moment is for us to give money through the pre-existing channells. We have to be mindful of when giving is most beneficial to the people who need it, and when it is just a means to satisfy our over-priviledged liberal guilt. Giving ...

am I sure?

My childhood memories are full of British tourists coming over in the middle of summer, spraying themselves liberally with anti-perspirant, and developing underarm welts. I always assumed the two things were interconnected, as everyone I knew refused to wear anti-perspirants, and didn't have welts. ...

Re:

Although you can probably get away with it in the deep dark depths of a Scottish winter, during the warmer months DO NOT use an antiperspirant - you'll end up with welts. Your body sweats for a reason - stopping it from doing so will cause your skin to inflame, and your pours to (eventually) weep. T...

The 6am train is a Virgin train, which is why it doesn't show up on the GNER timetables.

if you go to http://www.nationalrail.co.uk and plan a journey, you will see that there is only one train running from edinburgh to leuchars on the 1st - it's at 6am. As far as I can tell from the news section of the http://www.travelinescotland.com website, there'll be no busses running between st. ...

"I just called to say I love you" by Stevie Wonder.

Fitting, considering my 'rents were on different continents and actually did have to talk on the phone after 'the birth.'

For the best jasmine tea you can get...

..let it brew. Put a decent quantity of tea in your cup, pour over hot water, add a tiny insy-weensy little bit of suger (maybe 1/4 teaspoon, no heap), then cover over the cup with an upturned saucer and leave it for about 5 mins. THEN, you can drink it. Jasmine tea truly is wonderful, wonderful stu...

Re:

A well written essay should be able to draw people into it, I think, so that they WANT to read it, even if it is on a topic that doesn't particularly interest them.

Very very true. A good essay is an essay that engages the reader.

Re:

I completely disagree with the post above. It seems to me that being concise is such a desireable skill - the fewer words you take to say what you mean, the more original thought you can fit into you 2000, 3000, or 10,000 word limit. Although, I do agree that using words just picked out of a thesaur...

Last year there was *apparently* a photo society, although it never really seemed to exist. This year I don't think there is, but rumors are that a few people intend to set one up, so keep your eyes peeled I guess.

How about when you go to the societies' fair, stop by the lgbt stall and have a chat to the folks there... then when you turn up to the first meeting, there'll be at least someone there who you'll kind of know, who'll be friendy enough to talk to you,and who'll be in a position to introduce you to e...

No, you don't need a gown at all unless you're planning to sing in the choir or join the debating society. Even then, I think you can borrow them. B&Bs is always a problem...just go for somewhere no fully booked. Most places in St. Andrews are nice so it's not too much of a risk. Other than getting ...

Having asked on the albany park message board (which hardly anyone seems to check), I thought I'd ask here as well. Can I move into Albany Park earlier than the 18th? I NEED to...it's too expensive staying anywhere else for the next two weeks. I went to ask at the office today, and the girl there sa...

nope. or, yes. what was the question?

Haven't spent that much time in Fife park so I may not be the person to answer this, but I lived in Albany park last year and the walls aren't THAT thin. Actually, sound proofing's pretty good and provided your flatmates don't have incredibly loud laughs or snores, you generally can't hear them. It ...
