Re: If you could change three things about the Union...

This might just be bollocks but I remember being told a couple of times last year (by a couple of different people) that the mural is actually worth a fair sum of money. Insane, I know- It's a castastrophe. Apparently sabbaticals in the past tried to have it removed, discovered this and then tried t...

Re: University searching for a new Deputy Principal

I wouldn't be surprised if it's something way simpler- Richardson is herself a humanities person (if the shape of a political scientist). She may just be looking for a more scientific type person to cover the other side of the University's research in the number 2 job.

Re: The KK - Is this the end for our intrepid duo (and some)??!

Sounds like there needs to be a referendum or something on whether or not the SA should be taking a stance or leaving well alone. From what I recall, a referendum only needs a YES/NO question and 25 student signatures to call.

Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

Steve Savage, whose huge, sweating, anti-democratic man-breasts have already been discussed, used a health and safety violation to kick James out of the election. He stuck his head out the window at the Union AGM so that he could hang a banner inviting people to come inside. Because he was being &q...

Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

I have to say, I am incredibly disappointed with the SA's handling of this situation. The fact that so many of their demands have been backed by the executive is a travesty! It never would have happened a year ago! Don't I just long for the days when Steve Savage crushed student activism under the ...

Re: Wanted: One Rector

As someone who has sat on the Court, can I point out that the Rector is *not* fundamentally the students representative on the Court. The President of the Students' Association and the Director of Representation are the student body's representatives on the Court. The Rector is in the chair and thus...

Re: How does Sarah Palin compare to Margaret Thatcher?

I still don't get why she was picked. Yes she has the Yummy-Mummy factor but she doesn't stand up to other Republician women- Senator Kay Bailey-Hutchison of Texas for instance who would have made a fantastic VP selection - She would have energised the Republican base, played the Hillary card and wo...

Re:

I can explain the lack of Aberdeen- They have requested a change to the Ordinance that places the Rector as the President of the Aberdeen Court. The Rector would still have the right to be President, if elected by the lay members. It also appears that substantial ground work was done with the sabbat...

Re:

To put exnihilo's mind at rest, it is a guide that has been put together by the Rector's Group. The Group was formed by Simon, and membership includes all of the Rectors, Rector's Assessors (if an institution has one) and usually a sabbatical from the Students' Association (SRC in Glasgow's case). A...

**Proxy Voting**

If for some reason you will not be in St Andrews on Friday (e.g. year abroad, field trip, etc) you can arrange a proxy vote. You can do this in either of the following two ways 1) If you are in St Andrews you can pop by the elections office on the middle floor of the Students' Association and sort i...

Re:

For information -

Election Turnout in March 2007 was 1939 voters which equates to around 28% of the student body (the highest percentage turnout for student elections in Scotland and probably the rest of the UK)

Re:

Hecklings will indeed be on the Monday and Tuesday. We will not know until the weekend which posts are being heckled which night as how we split them will very much depend on numbers of candidates standing to give a balanced number on both nights. (In the past the first night has been very very heav...

Re:

The names that are in the tables on the website are exactly how the candidates name will appear on the ballot. We were asked to include (M) behind that Malcolm Collins name. Dalek is the name one particular student has chosen to run under- however the student's real name eludes me at this late hour.
