Re:

Just viewed it on iPlayer - oh my god how good was that episode of Torchwood. It looked like the trailer was for the rest of the series to me.

I wouldn't recommend the Criterion - it was the sort of place that was full of 30 year olds thinking that it was the sort of place that 20 year olds go

Re:

Why does the union support pay increases for academic staff? I must say that I am definately not on their side here.

Why do they not strike on their research output as well?

Re:

I don't understand why St Andrews should be cheap for insurance. I come from Dundee, where none of mine nor my parents's cars have ever been touched, and yet I have been broken into in St Andrews and had a wing mirror broken. On the point of cost though I have low insurance, currently about £300 per...

Re:

I run an old car which I repair myself. Since buying the car for £300 in the begining of December I have had to replace both engine and gear oils, the air and the fuel filters, the timing belt, fit new brake shoes and clutch cable a total cost to me of about £60. (I was quoted £130 + VAT to have the...

Re:

I stayed with Eve Brown last year and had no problem at all with them. They were always very quick at dealing with any of the problems in our house and when we moved back in this year we found that many things which had been broken had been repaired and four tins of beer waiting for us on the kitche...

Re:

Tom Lehrer is a legend. I recently found in Blue Note music an LP of his concert "That Was The Year That Was". It's amazingly funny.

Wasn't he a Maths lecturer at Harvard or something?

I don't think choosing a uni on the basis of the weather is a good idea! Certainly we get a lot of wind here just like the rest of the East coast of Scotland. The university is definitely very people orientated and in the Maths department I seriously get the impression that they actually care about ...

I had someone stay for a wee while over Christmas last year with no difficulty whatsoever. To be honest it is only really the hall management that actually care about the "3 nights" rule

I think that the "special relationship" is only really between our respective leaders. Few things seem more self-evident to emphasise this than the result of the US election and the British reaction to it. Culturally it is difficult to see what joins an increasingly liberal and atheistic Britain to ...

I think Frank Smith is good too, I like his stories but I do wish he would slow down a bit and give us chance to think about what we are copying down and understand it. Yes but fips does not deserve anything like Olsen status. A good way to slow him down apparently is to ask him a question about his...

Re:

I'm shocked at what has been posted on this thread. You quite clearly don't seem to know very much about the staff who work in supermarkets - especially in St Andrews. I've worked in Safeway from day 1 of fresher's week last year and does that make me any less of a person. It appears that most of th...

Re:

Safeway is as the post above says in the process of becoming a Morrisons. It will be a while before the process is complete and the reason it is taking so long is that the Morrison company believes that there is no money to be made in St Andrews. Few things have been deleted from the range although ...
