Re:

You don't sound crazy. I think the point about bureaucracies being full of holes is a valid one though. I'm pretty certain there is other intelligent life out there, but I'm also pretty certain that alien visitors either have not occured or are so infrequent to suggest that there are only a handful ...

Quoting admin from 10:09, 7th May 2006 It's to see whether people would do something for no real reason, but with a definite aim. I'm pretty sure an economist did a study of when people will do things for no reason. Considering the cost of this is very low, and the benefits are ambiguous and indivi...

Re:

Does it bother anybody else that someone could be prefered by most students as their second choice, recieving a ranking of 2 by a majority, however, because this canidate does not recieve a large amount of first votes, s/he gets redistributed early, and the majority preference is lost? The whole ide...

Re:

Quoting Lyeta from 15:55, 20th Mar 2006 As for not needing a book for months on end - if you don't need it bring it back to the library, and if you need a book that is out, recall it. If only it were that simple, though. Because people tend to hoard books, they don't return them long after they are...

Re:

Certainly, the entire point of GTA3 and its spin-offs are to run around doing illegal activities. Personally, I loved making the game more exciting by ticking the police off and getting into a huge car chase. I believe that while the prostitutes have a concern that the next generation of clients has...

Re:

Instead of getting rid of the short loan system, why don't we contemplate making normal loans a little shorter. Do we really need an entire book for three to four months? Maybe week could get it for a week or two, so that more people have opportunities to see books.

Re:

It's all nice quoting The Tempest, but Seth, Ben, could we refrain from the personal scuffles and keep this thread a constructive one? Let's look at the problems we had with the election: It seems pretty clear that everyone agrees there was a communication problem. Now we're getting into a represent...

Quoting Midget from 01:04, 20th Mar 2006 There are always other commitments, essay deadlines are different for different departments. This is a bollocks argument. Surely more essays are due 24th Mar, like mine. Students have plenty of time. Its about laziness, apathy and disinterest. I sincerely do...

Quoting Ben Reilly from 23:51, 19th Mar 2006 They are supposed to be put online. But not even the election rules are online. I would expect that Tom d'Ardenne would have had trouble, then, distributing a great amount of copies of the election rules to his campaign team for them to follow. Why does ...

Doesn't the R in SRC stand for representative?

Don't tell them that. They might realise that studnets have concerns, and even worse, that getting elected might mean that they would have to do something about them (Shock Horror!!).

Ooh, I could come to SRC - I'm coming over on Wednesday anyway. I've not been at SRC in years.

I think Ben said Tuesday. Besides, couldn't it be suggested on exnihilo's behalf since it's obviously been read by members of the SRC?

Re:

What is also of great concern is voter turnout. Many people on the Sinner and in the Union have expressed delight that 25% of the student body went out to vote on Friday. While this is higher than in most years, it is far from being a good turnout. What I might suggest, and please criticise this if ...

Is this it - The Strokes Landslide - Smashing Pumpkins Whats on my mind - Cranberries I remember I was once asked to list three songs from the top of my head. 'Is this it' was the third one to come to mind. I was then told that the third song was how I felt about life... So guess, there you go.

We'll find that out on Wednesday, I suppose.

Where is the Presidential result going to be announced anyway? And has a time been designated, or is that TBA at the discretion of the EOC?
