Re:

The way it works here is different from the States. Here, work is optional. Especially in Arts (I.e. English, Philosophy, etc.). What I mean by optional is that some people are happy to go to a third of their lectures, miss the 2 tutorials (that they can)and hand their essays in late. They may pass....

Re:

I think a comparison to London is more appropriate. That is in terms of Rent prices, bar prices, etc. Either way, St. Andrews is a bit of an enigma. That´s why we love it. (no hate it, no love it, no hate it, but more likely love it!)

Re:

I think that fugaziboy has got it a bit wrong here. See, deviant noise is an inclusive society but it would be totally self-destructive and a contradiction in terms if it started playing the smiths and the cure. Don't get me wrong, i love the cure, have smiths albums and am a closet fugazi fan but y...

suits

Grry Suit sounds nice but for balls, black gown events, etc. in the UK we use a specific type of tux called a Dinner Jacket or DJ. A tux would do fine but if I were you I would save your money and buy one over here sice it is a specific thing. Its something to do with the spape of the jacket and a s...

Review of Last Year - Debate Debacle?

Herr. Pushmann took over a society in crisis. If everyone can remember and did a splendid job of bailing water out of the boat. Attendances rose to a level where people couldn't get through the doors. Yes, some of the debates pandered to public issues but surely that's the point of the society. This...

Re:

Don't be decieved. I too would love it if all the music societies in St. Andrews could work harmoniously and not have bitter rivalries or fueds, but lets not be blind, people. I am a regular attendee at Alt Soc and Deviant Noise. I have been known to go to RockSoc, have friends there, and am a huge ...

Vacations

Ok. If you are a fresher, don't arrive too early as it can be seriously anticlimatical. Happened to me in 1st year. Arrive on the 14th ( I Think thats the date term starts). By all means go hme for christmas but take one major point into account. Actually I'll explain it by giving my example: I went...
