Yet an American PhD is a pretty good stepping stone to a top aca...

Oh crap

I for one am disappointed... Was so enjoying the chaos! And it's been nice hearing from Dr Brian for a change. Shame on you Ben Reilly and friends for not being incompetent and ineffective.

Re:

I had someone in the library make me a copy of the national university library stats in may of this year (they're supposed to be available to us, but the library doesn't actually stock a copy) and was disappointed!! to find that the book situation in st andrews isn't actually that bad (and I mean th...

That was my attempt to make the quote/unquote thing work. It didn't. I don't think I'm really cut out for this sort of thing.

Re:

I think that several of you are guilty of making the mistake of confusing what is a generally well-rounded and well-researched (and especially so by the Saint's some-time standards) article that does display two or three lapses of clarity and good judgment with 'a bad article' / 'an ignorant article...

Good weather for psychiatrists

They may have removed the 'depression' symbol from the weather graphic, but I predict a big upsurge in weather-related miserableness. (1) the whole 'Brown Britain' thing -- no, it's not a political prophesy, it's the fact that the BBC weather crew have taken it upon themselves to remind us that we a...

Yes. Chris does have a mandate. Yes. You should have waited till the 'split decision' was made before having the first election. Things like this don't HAVE to take an age to sort out. BUT. (feminists look away now). Wouldn't there have been some sense in taking the opportunity -- given the close re...

thanks ben and david -- i just wanted to get some sort of info onside about all this...all you people were saying 'ooh split split split' before the first election -- so it couldn't have been a complete surprise that the split occurred. was just wondering whether you'd sorted out in your minds how t...

But to the untrained eye you wouldn't think that Stewart Drennan had won anything -- that looks like a fairly poor second to Steve Savage...but he HAS been elected (?) ... to lay it out the way marco does above, wasn't the first DoS election (retroactively, I know) something like this: Director of S...

Confused of Abbotsford Crescent

Obviously this argument's already been had so apologies if i'm picking at old sores, but i was just wondering why it was thought necessary to hold this second election for 'Director of Student Development and Activities' given than the position was (more or less) 'embedded' in the DoS, the election ...

The best coffee AND the best prices in town! ... best panini (which, apparently, is already the italian plural form, so no need for an 's') ...best rocky roady thing (see breadroll, above) ...and one of the few places in st andrews where you can enjoy a guilt-free coffee experience without the taint...

Dear David, The obvious joke to make, of course, is that if you don't like the way the scottish and national press have reported this matter you should vote to put them out in the cold.
