Re: The Pope opened his mouth...

I don't get the latter article, which seems to say, altho the Catholic Church has an apparently high incidence of paedophiles, other professions have a similar percentage, and has therefore been unfairly singled out . . . . Even if the proportion of pedophiles was evenly distrubuted across the popul...

Re: Pet hates?

I'm feeling mellow at the moment - in fact, I think I had a momentary spark of genuine happiness the other day. *But* People who go 'Aw' at me. It's infuriating. You can only 'aw' small furry animals. Or TV show subtext. It's an Unspoken Rule. Isn't it?! People who are ridiculously anal about small ...

Re: The Pope opened his mouth...

This is the discussion I meant to link to before but couldn't find: Artificial Insemination (there's loads of Macgamer related argument on homosexuality): http://www.thesinner.net/mb/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31250&p=324873#p324873 I'd like to believe I'm awesome (it's my *dream*), but in reality,...

Re: how to get over love

I find being cold and emotionally distant is the best thing. Or so I gather from the page long text I just recieved complaining about how cold and emotionally distant I am by not caring that they're moving to Scotland.

Re: What's on your desk?

Prepare yourself for the excitment as I up the ante - I have *two* desks! Study Desk: Computer, a broken computer mouse (I accidently squished it between the hinges a year ago and there it has remained), a spare mousepad stating 'Curves: circle of friends', my actual mousepad with coffee stains, a '...

Re: The Pope opened his mouth...

Y'know, I've had this argument before and I can feel the rage . . . I don't see why, unless you have an emotionally invested opinion, and you're absolutely sure you're right. In which case, you probably aren't. Enjoy the tea, though. Here's a few examples why: ‘AIDS, Condoms & the Catholic Chur...

Re: The Pope opened his mouth...

Y'know, I've had this argument before and I can feel the rage . . . so I'm just going to go and have a nice, soothing cup of herbal tea.

Re: Job Decisions

Forgetting the course for a minute, do you really *want* to be a teacher? Because if that's what you want, it's worth going through the motions and finishing the course. On the other hand, if you don't ultimately want to be a teacher, then there's no point in continiuing with a course you hate (alth...

Re: 2009: how was it for you?

Clearly that cat was possessed. But if you still have sensation in the finger and can move it, it might heal on it's own in time. I know from playing the piano, there are exercises you can do that can strengthen your fingers. That might be worth a try on a cheap keyboard/look into?

Re: Internet Explorer being duff?

I've tried logging into the sinner using IE on several different computers, but it doesn't work. Currently using Firefox. Slight tangent - haven't been on until the last few days for a while, but the Sinner seems really quiet? Maybe this is related to IE probs?

Re: Time to think about those careers you slackers!

My auditor application asked: describe a difficult and unpopular decision you've made and what you learned from it

I finally had to put down a hideous week in Cumbria, in which my team seemed to self-destruct, and I made the decision to 'do it myself'. Passed the initial rounds anyway!

Re: 2009: how was it for you?

2009 was pretty good - finished up my studies, did better than expected and made a good group of friends. 2010 has so far been a disaster. Hoping it will pick up before my *spirit dies*. Ideally I'm aiming for: a fulfilling job requiring the use of my brain, a relationship with a relatively stable y...

Re: Lost USB - with my dissertation on it!

*hug* I hope it turns up. Even when you back-up, there's that one time you didn't (FYI in case it turns up and doesn't connect because it's been dropped/damaged - an amazing IT guy physcially forced my USB stick to connect by bending it). You never know though - maybe the computer you were using aut...

Re: Male students at St Andrews like a bit of meat on 'em.

Here's what wiki says: 'In the West, the practice began around 1915 in the US and UK, when one or more magazines showed a woman in a dress with shaved underarms. Regular shaving became feasible with the introduction of the safety razor at the beginning of the 20th century. While underarm shaving was...

Re: Internet Explorer being duff?

I have the same prob as Anon using IE, altho I can sometimes access sinner messageboards if I go from 'Articles'. I'd try Firefox but, erm, I deleted it the other day (trying to uninstall as much as I can in attempt to work out what was causing fatal errors). I thought this was a problem I'd caused ...

Re: Male students at St Andrews like a bit of meat on 'em.

On a slightly tangential note (a tangent of a tangent, in this case) a couple of years back, some friends and I started to puzzle over when, exactly, women in the UK started shaving their arm pits. Not a subject I'd ever seen mentioned anywhere. Fashions often tend to be influenced by high-profile ...

Re: Bad Work Experiences, Please

That's awful LP - make sure you pursue every course of action in gaining your wages, and document as much as you can. My friend had a really awful experience with a charity that was turned into a charitable business, so that her boss and cronies became the effective CO and board - incredibally, they...

My local bus is actually called 'The Highwayman' and includes a logo of a masked man, in a strange attempt to add 'character' to the bus service. *cough* which you probably didn't want to know.

Re: Old people are crippling the UK bus network!

You solution is logical, but would probably cause time-consuming confusion as OAPs will still attempt to get on the bus and the bus driver has to explain . . . I base this as, at least in England, OAP free bus service doesn't start till after a certain time (9am I think) - and numerous times, I've b...
