Re: Do you dream in colour?

Like macgamer says, if colour isn't relevant in a dream I just don't remember it. It's not that there isn't any colour, but more that the colour just doesn't matter. A red post box or blue police call box will always be those colours - remembered or otherwise: A green post box with pink polka-dots i...

Re: Deferred Assessment grades

You should be talking to your school about arrangements for your deferred assessment. Most likely, you'll be asked to take your exams in the August reassessment diet, i.e., 20 to 23 August 2012.

For sale: Vango tents

Anyone needing a cheap tent for the summer? I'm needing to clear out some space in my attic, so PM me your plans and your budget, and I'll see what I have that might meet your requirements.

Re: 2012 Olympic Torch Route

Re: borrowing handluggage

A reference from a trusted mutual friend would be more than enough: "She's the kind of person that goes out of her way to get things back to you."

Re: Tay Bridge

If you're planning to go across in the next week or so, keep an eye on the weather forecast. It's starting to look decidedly autumnal, and we might even get a glimpse of winter by the middle of next week. Talking of the bridge, does anyone else remember the observation platform that used to reach ou...

Re: post-Christmas break/pre-exam period

From the provisional exam timetable page (due to be published sometime next week): "IMPORTANT: A reminder that students are required to make themselves available in St Andrews for the full duration of the exam diet, regardless of when their own exams take place. Students therefore should not le...

Re: Castle Sands

Last visible action was to drill inspection shafts down from the pavement along East Scores, so they can monitor movement of the cliff over the next few months. I don't expect anything more to happen until well into next year.

Re: How to get a uk driving licens?????/

It depends on where your driving license was issued, and what your status is in the UK. See http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/DrivingInGbOnAForeignLicence/index.htm for the official answers.

Re: Men's Hair Cut (where in town?)

Sweeney Todd's in Woodburn Terrace is my current choice - not too expensive, long opening hours, and short queues. Ross used to have the second chair at John's.

Re: Wifi/laptop question...

WiFi channels 12 and 13 are typically disabled on North American laptops - so they won't be able to see access points on those channels. A driver or firmware upgrade for the wireless adapter, using a European version, might allow the additional channels to be enabled.

Re: I lost a cheque

Report it lost to whoever you got it from. If it's not yet come off their account, they may choose to stop it and issue you a replacement, but they might ask to wait 6 months from the date of the first cheque in case someone else finds it and cashes it. If the issuer is a business, they might deduct...

Re: Fires in Fife

On your own land, as long as you're burning appropriate fuel - charcoal, logs, smokeless fuel - and not causing a nuisance with smoke, you'd probably be OK. (Just don't try burning rubbish, leaves, etc.) For anywhere else, check the Scottish Outdoor Access Code: Wherever possible, use a stove rather...

Re: Finding email addresses

Once you've sorted the least difficult ones, PM me with the rest. I enjoy a challenge. I wouldn't recommend that as it is illegal (Data Protection Act) not to mention morally dubious. If you get found out by the Union I suspect the response would not be pleasant & justly so. If someone has prov...
