Re:

If you want to spread your wings, then the trip to Oban on the West Coast would be lovely this time of year, and then even across the water to some of the islands. Even a day trip to Glasgow is only 2 hrs on the bus, so worth it to see the sights there.

We stayed at the Vanderbilt YMCA in central Manhattan when I went with school, but that was back in 2002 so can't remember much about the cost, but it can't have been expensive. It also had a cool food court.

I can absolutely recommend FujiFilm cameras - particularly the FinePix F20 model and above. I'm not sure what the latest incarnation is called, but they have progressively become F30, F31, F40 and so on. My F30 cost me about £90 from Amazon.com last year and people are always amazed by how good the ...

Re:

The best is just bog basic un-branded aqueous cream from a chemist (Boots usually have a huuuge tub of it for a couple of quid). You can use it instead of soap but it's great as a moisturiser and about as cheap and "neutral" as you can get.

Re:

Definitely recommend getting photos done before the ceremony because after it you're usually aching to let your hair down and everyone's all hyped up with emotion and eagerness to get to the garden party. At least before the ceremony the queues are small, and you're fresh faced.

Re:

The songs that represent the bop for me, especially in my first couple of years, were Chesney Hawkes' I Am The One And Only, Barbie Girl and Diana Ross' Chain Reaction. I support playing some new music at the bop, but there has to be room for some of the staple constants in there every week.

The basement level (special collections) is called Level One. Thus, the main entrance and main SAULCat area is actually on Level Two.

I would strongly suggest you choose a topic that if it's totally new to you then at least you have a fair degree of certainty you'll enjoy it. Most dissertations taken at least six months from planning to completion, so it's a lot of time and stress to concentrate on something you could take or leav...

Friends/exes

I'm not usually one for talking about matters of the heart, so forgive me for filling this thread with blancmangey rubbish!! I'm not so much looking for advice, just reassurance or clarification on an issue: I broke up with my other half four weeks ago. I instigated the actual "let's end it" convers...

Re:

I echo the above two posts, but agree with Gealle that the closing date for graduate training schemes is often before Christmas of the final year so I wouldn't advise waiting until the finals are over. I had friends who were using taking the angle that they would rather concentrate on their work tha...

If you want to make the background transparent, just remove it by doing a chroma key job in any half decent image editing programme.

Most male partners or family tend to some in a suit, or shirt and smart trousers. He would probably be best in a suit with a shirt and no tie, unless he wants to be particularly formal.

The Raisin's Scream burgers were amazing for a quick lunch over a pint.

Otherwise, I was a big fan of the Vic's baguettes with curly fries.

I'll look forward to seeing what they do to this place, or at least hope someone has some photos or reports of it. When I was in first year I think it was in its infancy as the Gin House and had just changed from being Ogstons a few weeks previously. It was, however, a bit of a "place to be" during ...

Re:

I am on a graduate management scheme earning over 20k in my training year. Although on the face of it that looks like a decent starting salary to leave uni on, when you divide it my the number of hours I work (quite often over 50 in a week) then it starts to look a lot less appealing. As Gealle says...
