Rufflets is excellent - the restaurant is sublime but whether it's suitable for an academic dinner for 10 I'm not so sure. I can't understand the obsession with the Vine Leaf either - I had fish there and it was so overcooked that I couldn't actually cut into it - it was like a solid bit of rubber. ...
I've noticed a bit of angst from the locals...but maybe that was because I was sat in TPs supporting Chelsea. Probably doesn't go down too well up here

I agree with everyone else, walking somewhere, anywhere usually does the trick for me. Walk to end of West Sands, by which time you can't see St Andrews, or get up in the morning and watch the sunrise.
