Re:

To suggest that it was licit to use contraceptives would be contradictory to the important and essential procreative nature of sex

Brief question: do humans (and animals such as bonobos) use sex purely for procreation, or does it also serve to maintain social bonding?

Re:

As sex education and contraceptive provision have increased, so there has also been a dramatic rise in the incidence of STIs. The Church predicted this would happen 40 years ago. See Humanae Vitae The Catholic Church has not changed its position on this issue and I believe that the statistics in Br...

Suppose that fine-tuning does need an explanation: how does positing a fine-tuner not just move the bump under the rug?

african drumming

Would anyone be interested in getting together to do some african drumming this term? I'd suggest meeting somewhere outside, either North Haugh or Castle Sands, so long as it isn't raining. African drumming being broadly construed - any hand percussion. No snares :)

email me if so: iem@...

Re:

I'm going to attempt a classic Long Drop, here, and play Turnpike Lane (southbound). Unless I'm mistaken, this successfully nullifies the last triangulation and leaves only one possible next move.

Stuff the Jubilee line. That'll teach them to attempt an early triangulation.

Re:

avoid DRA. it's absolutely terrible. and horribly expensive (about £100/week). with paper-thin walls and it's too far away from town to be pleasant - especially in the winter. and the en-suite bathrooms are miniscule; even the ones in new hall are better. but 100/week? you can get a decent room in a...

mindless copy 'n' pasting of tedium is . . .

. . . much much worse if you've got a silly haircut and a habit of wearing ridiculous bodywarmer puffa jackets.

not that people with silly haircuts and similar jackets are banal and gauche, as such, but some have definitely suggested it.

We're planning to meet sometime (lunchtime?) next Friday, *possibly* castle sands (depending on how much we think we'll piss people off). contact iem for fur...

Sorry Sid, I'm just not willing to let you get away with that one. In your own words: . . . if someone is terminating what could have been a living person like myself I see it as a form of murder. Here's a hypothetical situation: You find yourself outside of a burning fertility clinic. You rush inside: in one corner there is a petri dish with five newly-fertilised embryos, ready for implantation. In the opposite corner there is a two-year-old girl. You have time to save either the petri dish ...
