Re:

I think the move from 'nowhere does it say she cannot' to 'she can' is pretty suspect; it's just what you'd expect that it not be written down, for an unwritten constitutional rule. Nowhere is the principle of parlimentary supremacy codified (I think - may well be wrong) but that is a principle of o...

Re:

Hmm. I should have thought that the fact that it is an unwritten constitution would support my point, if anything. The thought being this: it *is* unconstitutional for her to vote. This presumably isn't up for grabs - exactly because monarchs don't and haven't voted because of a tacit agreement that...

Re:

Don't really follow the meaning - "can vote, but would be unconstitutional?" Like "can kill, but would be illegal?" That's just another way of saying can't.

Using something like "www.facebook.com/anything" should also get you there.

It's the University Motto. I understand that "ever to be the best" is the usual translation, though I think it could be rendered as "excellence into eternity" too? I wonder if anybody has spotted it written up anywhere else around the university? I think the St Andrews chalk vandals should get to wo...

AQA do only employ those with a degree education, and, interestingly, though they don't rely on super-geniuses, they do rely on several St A alumni. So, what of reciprocal arrangements? I ask, because more often than not, postgrads haven't received any kind of card allowing them access to the union, and use their (generally still valid) old-university card during freshers' week. Book Site

A while ago (maybe a month or so?) somebody posted a link to a particularly good site, which searched various online book-places to find the cheapest source for books in the UK. I've lost the link, and try as I might, I can't seem to find it. (I can find various other ones, which don't seem to do th...

I'd argue, parenthetically, that once you are a graduate, rather than at your graduation, a trencher is perfectly correct to be worn with academic dress (as I did at Sir Menzies Campbell's installation as Chancellor).

While fantastic on other occasions, kilts really don't look good with gowns. But if you're going to wear one, it should certainly be with a white bow tie and dark socks.
