Food for people with nut allergies

I'm doing a secret santa with someone who is fatally allergic to peanuts, all tree nuts and many legumes. I'm guessing if I want to send food (I was mainly thinking of chocolate) it can't say 'made in a factory which processes nuts'? Anyone know of chocolate brands which are guaranteed nut free?

Re:

Well, I've now spoken to everyone involved and am no more the wiser. The SLC say I need to get the uni to send a letter to them in Glasgow. The uni say it's nothing to do with them, call my LEA. The LEA say sign and return the form (which I'm waiting to be sent out to my new address) and it all happ...

Re:

^Foxy Moron, you were exactly right - finally got through on the phone and all my forms have been sent to my old Albany address. This would explain why my mother received a letter saying they were struggling to contact me (although not why, when she rang up, she was told it was sent automatically an...

Re:

I had been at Guides with my sister and my father came out to tell us when we got home (so fairly late evening UK time). I followed him into the front room to watch the TV because I could tell from what he'd said that this was 'big'; I'd never heard of or (knowingly) seen the WTC at this time so I w...

Re:

So, has everyone got this sorted now? I was told by baffled uni staff that it was nothing to do with them, my LEA told me the SLC sorted it out, and I've heard nothing from anyone :S. Apparently my student loan application is awaiting my signature, but it hasn't been sent to me yet (and I'm abroad f...

Re:

I would do it, but an interesting, enjoyable job is high up my list of priorities so being stuck in boring employment would be driving me round the twist. Won't you regret it forever if you don't do it? And it's your life, not your family's, so unless you have a partner and children to support you'r...

Re:

My LEA told me the SLC works out if you're eligible and lets you know, so I just applied for my loan as normal. And am fully expecting to be charged for tuition and have to wrangle it out with the LEA and SLC on the phone ... but hey, I live in hope.

Re:

When enquiring about study abroad options at Edinburgh uni I was pretty much told by the academics there that none of the American programmes were up to scratch, and a friend being interviewed for a Masters at Cambridge was warned not to fall into "American dilettantism". If this is what our academi...

Re:

Well, I called my LEA (North Tyneside) and after speaking to two people who didn't even get what I was on about I was put through to the education department (good move, guys!) and told that I just apply for my loan as usual. The SLC then assesses whether I get my fees paid or not (the bit she stres...

Tuition fees for English students in 4th year

I started my course in 2005, so am going into my fourth and final year. When I applied I was under the impression that English students doing four year courses in Scotland which would be three years in England would not have to pay tuition fees for their final year. I asked at reception and they sai...

Re:

I know someone waiting to find out if they have AHRC funding for their Masters, but they were put forward for it by one specific uni (they're now leaning towards going to a different uni, and so would have to cancel their funding application - you can't transfer it). So you can get funding for a Mas...

Re:

The concept of a war which has been going for generations and generations but only actually for seven days was great ... but why, then, was the commander of the humans so old?? Was he generated to be 62 or did they just miss a massive plot hole right there? Not to mention there was pretty much no fi...

I liked the ska night too.

How was the bay ball? I walked past the beach after seeing As You Like It but it didn't look like there was all that much going on.

Re:

The first link won't work for me.

I'd never heard of the partial quotients method of division. My very non-mathematical brain thinks long division looks easier, but then, that's the way I was taught.

Three weeks seeing friends in the US, six weeks doing People to People, three weeks chilling at my parents', three weeks on a course in Greece. Funding provided by my summer job and a decent sum which I got for basically indulging in my hobby on a message board - not bad.

I assumed it would complain if I put my bag on the scales. Sometimes I use my rucksack which has books and files in it. What kind of person only uses cotton bags (or similar) when they can get green points for them? Everyone I know either does or doesn't use plastic, and doesn't really care what Tes...
