Re: "For girls eyes only"

WQ I'm trying to work out whether you are playing some particularly boring form of devils advocate, a complete muppet or just trolling. By your logic unless every girl (or boy depending upon your proclivities) you've ever been out of a night with has specifically and publicly stated you aren't a nas...

Re: "For girls eyes only"

It's the Royal Marines - in terms of shaggability you have 50+ of the fittest men in the country, in uniform, earning £30k+ - if they wanted to seduce the girls of St Andrews they wouldn't need to hoodwink them into the mess with that email and rape them. They'd just have to turn up in the town and ...

Re: Exam timetables.

What subject do you study Chris? I don't think you have quite grasped how much of complex problem scheduling is. Bear in mind that it's very likely that there is no "solution" to this scheduling problem and as such it becomes an optimisation (minimising clashes) scheduling problem, which ...

Re: Exam timetables.

If you're exams are bad write to the exams officer, I did an have one of mine moved provisionally.

It doesn't help my dissertation is on scheduling and coming up with better systems for allocating things like exams, it really shouldn't be hard to produce a fair allocation for all.

Re: Blame Culture

No, it's more that back in the day people used to actually resign over things. Lord Carrington resigned when the Falklands War broke out because as Foreign Secretary he (or those under his purview) hadn't predicted it. The shocking thing about the Bob Quick resignation is that he went, no doubt help...

Re: Jerry Springer

In the general office! Are you mad man! Producing even dozens of double sided glossy A4 fliers in there would bankrupt the Catholic Church itself! Rumour has it the Knights Templar gold was all spent on a "We didn't do Satan" campaign but they only managed to afford 18. Their execution was...

Re: St Andrews stats: meet your spouse, become an alcoholic?

Wow, the odds have lengthened since I started. I was told 3/4 find their partner and 1/4 become drink sozzled, with no clear answer as to whether there was overlap or not.

But then maybe those numbers are just McIntosh's!

Re: conservative Sinner, Conservative St Andrews?

And since when has the political divide been between conservative and liberal on this side of the pond? This isn't some kind of Rush v. Chomsky (sp?) battle royale of conflating terms and arbitrarily assigning political opinion to polarising words regardless of whether they fit or not. Anyhows, St A...

Re:

We decided to keep LPH in the relevant places as it is only until November (hopefully!) that debates will take place elsewhere.
Otherwise we'd have to keep potentially changing locations around and may end up with crazy and confusing references.

Re:

The new version of the website has just been uploaded. Well done to Miles for producing a comprehensive revamp.

I'll be adding a sprinkle of geeky magic behind the scenes to enable the site to be much more easily updated.

Re:

I know one shouldn't feed trolls but really... Panel 7 does kind of answer the question, people did think about the questions, and guess what came up with answers. Its called theology, perhaps if people actually studied it they might be able to come up with arguments against God that were slightly m...

Re:

I think it's worth saying that the 4 round training day we held seemed to pay dividends. I certainly think it helped get me ready for Euros. On a related note that seems to be how many of the good Irish institutions prepare for internationals, with a dose of debates just before hand, so it might ver...

Re:

No error, at Euros teams can be in both breaks, unlike Worlds. Leiden did astonishingly well to break 4th. Jess and I (St Andrews B) came joint 17th on tab, along with a Cambridge team, 6 points off the break. So while sad we didn't make it, we're thrilled to have done so well. We also both made it ...

And whilst certainly not an authoritative source on university clothing regulations it is certainly the practice that students graduating that year continue to wear either the red or St Mary's gowns until the day of the...

Re:

Ahh, ticketing dinners. While I shan't be drawn on the specifics of what happened on the night I would like to comment upon the issue for paying for debates dinners. This is not the first time that we have had issues with settling bills at the end of the night, normally it is for far smaller amounts...

Advanced Training

Whilst the mace is on and we have teams in it Advanced Training will soley focus upon it. Once normal service resumes we will get on with Euros prep.

There will be nothing in the Union today, those around and in the mace are welcome round at mine to talk over topics and strategy

The problem with Scientology as a religion is that you cannot objectively view its beliefs, even the majority of the membership cannot. Technically none of the membership can as they haven't published all of the books yet. Religions publish their holy books or whatever in an effort to proselytize wh...
