Re: Siena

That's not to say there's not much to be done still, but Phil is the only one with the experience to keep things progressing and thankfully it's not all back to square one for next academic year. I have no idea how people keep missing the advertising though. At the very least read your email or eve...

Re: Siena

So yeah, that may be an issue there. [edit] It also sounds like you may have a problem with ADHD if you get bored during a single person at hecklings, might want to get that checked. [/edit] Mature response, well done. Phil Pass has been in his position since 1st July 2009: I think July-Christmas w...

Re: Siena

I am still completely in shock that Phil Pass was re-elected. I'm not, he was by far the best candidate and has done a really good job from what I've seen/heard this year. Far better than previous years DoServs have done. I'm surprised it was as close as it was, but then not being in St Andrews I d...

Re: Siena

I am misunderstanding the point of your original post? Were you or were you not posting that video to colour opinion about the candidate (whom you are presumably endorsing)? Well call me a killjoy but I don't think elections should be fun. They are not recreational activities and despite the fact t...

Re: Siena

Frankly, the idea that pointless videos that lack political merit such as those posted could influence votes positiviely offends me. Almost to the point where I have a good mind to vote for 'anyone else' just to make the point clear that I do not enjoy being pandered to like the lowest common denom...

Re: Saintmail-your thoughts

One thing i have noticed about Staintmail is that it seems to put any society e-mails i get straight into the spam folder. The University sent an email about that today. For the first few weeks you need to keep checking your spam and moving it to your inbox. Eventually, saintmail "learns"...

Re: Saintmail-your thoughts

It's slightly slow at loading for me, but otherwise fine. I used to have my mail forwarded to my gmail account anyway, so it doesn't make much difference.

Would be good if they allowed society accounts to transfer - the spam filters would be especially welcome.

Re: Windows Vista zooming

Hey there! Sorry to weigh in on your query, but how in the name of God's green earth did you go about sorting it?! I've found the icon in the system tray, but can't figure out what you changed to stop it doing this! I was so chuffed when I saw your question, as I assumed I was doing something chara...

My academic dad dropped IR at the end of third year. Speak to your adviser about it.

Paris apartments

I'm going to France for July to study French, with a friend. We need somewhere to stay, but neither of us are familiar with Paris nor do we speak French!

Do any of your well-travelled sinners have any bright ideas about where we could find an apartment?

Re: Modern Manners/etiquette

I wish people would leave the room/table if they have to answer their phones. It's so disruptive to other people who are trying to continue their conversations. People on the phone for ages on trains annoy me; "oh, sorry, I keep losing signal... hello? hello? oh hi... im just about to go into a...

Re: Does the General Office close for lunch?

general office user wrote:No, it doesn't close for lunch, except during holidays and when staff are sick. Why would a business serving students close during lunch? .

Because it's the Union and there is very little in that building that makes sense.

Re: Does the General Office close for lunch?

jollytiddlywink wrote:If it does so, presumably it closes at lunchtime!

Sorry, but I don't know either if it does close, or if so, when.

Well define lunch time - an hour, half an hour, forty-five minutes? At 12, 12.30, 1, 1.30?

If case anyone else needs to know - it doesn't.
