Re: So I hear Aikmans has gone Bankrupt?

I must be one of the few who had little love to spare for Aikman's. I took the word of the menu outside on one occasion and brought my father for an evening meal, where the food was nothing at all special and looked like it had been sitting under lamps for a good three hours. The wallpaper peeled, ...

Re: So I hear Aikmans has gone Bankrupt?

This is fucking terrible. When i was in first year i always saw bands in Aikmans and my only dream in life was to one day be good enough on the guitar to play there myself. I never thought it would happen. Now I've played there more times than I can remember and always had the time of my life there....

Re: Revision music

I'm currently listening to Sigur Rós - Hafssól. Music so far this evening has also included assorted classical pieces, some delightful Ludovico Einaudi, and some Karl Jenkins. Generally ambient-ish/instrumental/relaxing music. I am also currently listening to Sigur Rós whilst revising :) Although I...

Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

Yes, but coming to university here isn't a simple, one-time transaction. Students move here and spend four years living here (or more.. or fewer) over the course of their studies. It's more like a membership than a simple customer-retailer situation. After all, we do have elections, so there is at ...

Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

Saying these people should leave the university is like saying that anti-war protesters should leave the UK if they don't support the decisions of the government. Hey creepy old man, thanks for your points - i see where you're coming from. On the above quote though I have to disagree. Being a citiz...

Re: 60+ students occupy uni building in protest

At the end of the day, the university is providing a service that we pay for with our tuition fees. Like any other service you consider buying, if you don't like the ethical side of the service provider then don't buy from them. Its very simple. Indeed the university is currently oversubscribed and ...

Re: Snow

Young children walking past our house are being scarred for life by our rather large mutant snow catterpillar which has carrots for antennae, carlsberg bottle caps for eyes, two halves of a pepper for a mouth and a lightbulb for a nose. Oh yes, and a massive erect penis. Angry glares from mothers wa...

Re: Songs that have you near/in tears

I completely agree with the person talking about Dark Side of the Moon. Listening to Time in particular never fails to move me. "Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way". Indeed. Thus is the power of Floyd. There is also Townes Van Zandt, the often criminally unknown Texas songw...
