'grats on the apartment; hope your last year at St Andrews works out well for you both.

Re: Ever lived outside St Andrews?

Edinburgh's a fair commute from Cupar, all that really would serve to do is make it easier on the student at the expense of the partner True, but it does have a mainline station and keeps the expense down for the student half of the equation, and also has a frequent bus service. If we're going for ...

Re: Ever lived outside St Andrews?

Fair comment then. If your partner's working in Edinburgh, you could always seek a compromise, like Cupar - which can be used as a commuting base for both Edinburgh and St Andrews, and is a damned site cheaper than both to rent in. As for future plans, pop into the Careers Centre and we can have a c...

Re: Ever lived outside St Andrews?

Hrm. Edinburgh to St Andrews is a tough ask. There are lots of things to consider here; you may be able to commute for the two days a week you have lectures, but have you considered how you're going to access the other university facilities you may need, perhaps at short notice (that library book th...

Re: Blasphemy a crime under UN resolution

Looks to me pretty much like nothing will come of it though - too many un-addresses quarters to possibly write it with any semblance of equality.

Re: What do you put on the barbecue?

Meat, meat and more meat - plus a little salmonella. Vegetarians take note: barbecues are for meat, not vegetables. In fact, the only addition required at a BBQ is a pack of bread rolls to stuff more meat into. Salad is for rabbits to eat, then you eat the rabbits. Method: ⋅ Obtain BBQ (or...

Residential and Business Services are about to launch a new part of their website which allows for you to find flatmates - I'll message again once it's live.

Dwarf servants need to be fed. Admittedly not much, but still; overheads, overheads.

Re: Ever lived outside St Andrews?

my friend lives in anstruther and hates it. okay. so in addition to your rent you'll need a bus pass which is in the region of £70 a month. if you want to do anything with people in st andrews you have to plan in advance and if you want to go out at night you're a slave to hourly buses or twenty po...

Best euphemisms you know...

..and their meanings. Having watched The Shawshank Redemption (again) last night, I started this off with pure vulgarity in mind, but then thought it could be seen as an educational tool for international students. 'Pinching a loaf' = taking a sh*t 'Dropping the kids at the pool' = taking a sh*t Bef...

But I'll bet it smells less, and won't poo on your living room carpet whilst simultaneously eating your sofa.

Re: buying a car

I also forgot; if your US licence is for driving an automatic car, that's all you'll be licenced for in the UK too. Automatics are often more expensive to buy as they are fewer and further between, and are mostly owned by old people who wee in the seats. Tip: when you sit your UK test, sit it in a m...

Re: buying a car

I don't believe you actually need a licence to own a car. All you need to do is fill out the new owner supplement in the registration document, and send that off to the DVLA, who will update the logbook (the V5C) and send it back to you. You'll need to do this in order to be able to tax the car or ...

It's cool though. Seeing ASIMO also never ceases to amaze me too: http://world.honda.com/HDTV/ASIMO/20071 ... operation/ (search around - there are a few videos in there).

(Also, not to be nit-picky or anything, but doesn't this really belong on the "Look What I Found..." board? Just a thought. =P ) Probably, though I confess I wasn't aware of its existence. Besides; I thought it'd lighten the mood away from 'Blasphemy a crime under UN resolution '... The D...

Your Astrological Week Ahead

Pisces (20 FEB-20 MAR) A full Moon next to Saturn signals a climactic point for one pet project. But remember, in the eyes of the law, as an animal can't speak, it can't give its consent. Aries (21 MAR-19 APR) Are those parsnips? Taurus (April 20-May 20) This week’s full Moon highlights your poor t...

Re: Strange question - nose hairs??

There's little gadgets to help you do it in the privacy of your own home - I'm sure Argos would have something, and they won't be terribly expensive, either. Don't go near anything that has rotating blades: they generally bore their way through your sinus cavity to the back of your skull. You can b...
