Re: Censorship

Wow passive agressive much? No wonder she didnt want your stupid room. She was under no obligation at all to take it so maybe next time get a deposit upfront you utter fool and then get a clue about how the system works. Im sure other people like myself are getting a lot of enjoyment out of your sel...

Re: Dark Rooms on top floor of the union

As far as I know it was a Musfund organised event. Not sure what happened to it though. Musfund didnt seem up to all that much last year so maybe it will be back, maybe not, I dont know anymore than that.

My latest bill funnily enough. :P

Re: The cost of a scone

It's not complicated at all and I'm no physicist. Using the rough figures that I have... Cost of electricity 12p/kwh Oven rating 2.5kw Cost per minute of running oven on full power = (12/60) * 2.5 = .5p Even running the thing at full power for 17 minutes will only cost at most 8.5p Divide that by nu...

Re: Exercise on Uni fields

If it's what I think it is then it is a "military fitness" class.

Saw some flyers / posters for it back at the start of the summer, there might be some still around on random noticeboards.

Re: Expired passport as ID?

I'm sure most of, if not all, the places in st andrews will accept your matriculation card as ID. The passport would probably depend on how expired it was and how old the photo was if anyone even checked that - if you have been using it fine in the past though i wouldnt imagine it would be a problem.

Re: Broadband: which to choose?

I'd second that recommendation. Unlimited evening and weekend downloads and a healthy daytime limit that I have never exceeded (or come close too really). Plus the extras and a faultless service, is really worth that little bit extra.

Re: Staff Redundancies in Modern Languages

Maybe the same reason why the whole University doesn't just abandon teaching altogether and point everyone to Google and Wikipedia.

Troll be gone.

Re: Arsing around or arson around?! - Newgate Fire

Nice report. I saw 3 fire engines, a police car and a fire car (I guess you call it that?) pass me on the way home. The police were just closing off Hepburn Gardens when I got close enough to see what was happening, so I have nothing to add of any value. I could see the plume of smoke from right in ...

Re: Beware Union RBS cashpoint!

If someone clones your card, I find it very unlikely they would use it to withdraw money from the same machine just after you used it and then again the next morning. More likely, it was cloned some time ago from a garage or restaraunt (possibly) from outside st andrews and sheer coincidence the 2 c...

Re: Beware Union RBS cashpoint!

Sounds more like the card was cloned elsewhere but used to withdraw money at the union. I used the cash machine over friday and the weekend without my bank account being emptied. No cloners in the thing when i used it. Thats the thing you should look out for really. And never let the card out of you...

Re: Save the Union Jukebox

Can't say I ever use the jukebox but it must be better than that bloody awful Sub.tv. Any generic music tv channel would be a vast improvement on the crap they put on sub. Would be interesting to know how many people were even in the bar at this time of year to put the above quote in a bit of perspe...

Re: "For girls eyes only"

I do not accept that for one moment: not legally, nor socially, nor morally. A person who writes an email, unless it is made explicit that they represent some other party, is writing on behalf of no-one but him or herself; Well what party do you think the AUVP was representing if it wasnt the AU? T...

Re: "For girls eyes only"

An email sent by the Principal is in my opinion qualitatively different in its status as an official communication of the University to one sent by an AU VP. That isn't to say the latter shouldn't be subject to any expectations or regulation (as distinct from 'regulations'), but it strikes me as qu...

Re: "For girls eyes only"

I didn't realise that even if the University did pass on the message they were somehow endorsing it's contents. Come back to me when you've had a job with any amount of responsibility. WQ! Bravo sir! That was hilarious. Bullet dodged by the sounds of it but I would guess due more to luck than anyon...

Re: Guest posters

Im pretty sure phpBB allows you to set up permissions for each sub board, so if you want to allow guest posts for advice / trading / personals, you can, and I'm sure you can also set the guest posts to be reviewed by a moderator before they are published. Seems like the most sensible option as very ...
