Re: General election 2010 - who will (or would) you vote for?

Also: why are so many people so against socialism? It's like this country's had a complete social responsibility bypass. Everyone has a moral responsibility to do what they can to help the poorest and most vulnerable in society, and if that means you giving hard earned money in taxes and accepting t...

Re: General election 2010 - who will (or would) you vote for?

I'm voting SNP, because they are one of the more socially democratic parties around in the system right now. I'm on the pretty far left of the party, and would count myself as a socialist, but the fact is that a) I believe in Scottish independence as an ideal, and b) the SSP is a fecking joke. New L...

Re: Cheap ways to get to London?

The Uni Travel Service is doning one-way fares for £25 quid with a railcard, so if you booked early for your journey back up it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than most fares to London...then again, the bus may be soul-crushing but it also stands to be about £25 quid (or more) cheaper, if you can ...

Re: Guide to St Andrews

Hi!

If I'm honest, you're probably better off asking specific questions, nothing's really been updated in a while...what is it you want to know?

Re: Pet hates?

@Duggeh: Wee point; the disabled spaces are right next to the shop door for a reason; it's so people it wheelchairs/with walkers don't have to negotiate the pavement and so that people for whom walking is difficult or painful don't have to do something which hurts or is bl**dy difficult for any long...

Re: Part time jobs in town

The turnover of jobs is fairly high here, and most of them are in the sectors you're looking into-particularly promising are the big hotels (the Fairmont does a ot of casual work but can be tiring) or getting a job in a hall as a server in a dining hall. The only thing that can be problematic is tha...

Re: Dissertation

@Thalia: Sorry, I should have clarified! :) Basically, my train of thought is that anything that could be taken as helping someone else with their work (i.e. helping with their grammar) could technically be viewed as plagarism; I know it's not, but it's possible someone could miscontrue it. I know i...

Re: Dissertation

I'm really sorry but having thought about it I'm not sure if this is a good idea: I'm really sorry to think about bailing on you but this could easily break the rules on plagarism. I might need to ask for some advice on this one before we do anything, sorry! I'm pretty sure that SALTIRE will be able...

Re: What's on your desk?

My desk in my room has numerous (neat) stacks of papers, essays, letters and somesuch dumped on it,along with loose change, my printer, a couple of pens, some plastic bottles that I can't be bothered to take to the recycling bin and my room phone. Consequently, the desk I'm actually working at has a...
