Sorry if I state the obvious, but I've always found the job centre fairly effective for summer work in town.

Quoting sat from 16:47, 4th Feb 2006

I've been using this too; usually fine until I switch over to Windows. Then something gets screwed up somewhere with the DHCP lease and I don't get another one when I go back into Ubuntu.

Useful to know, thanks.

Re:

Quoting Roulette from 19:19, 2nd Feb 2006 I just view it as fun and nice and pretty. Anything wrong with that? XHTML 1.1 is fun, nice and pretty (see http://www.st-and.ac.uk/~lrc1 ). XHTML 1.1 served as text/html, on the other hand, is Purest Evil. Very briefly, the problem is that documents served...

Hey, guess what? Ubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger) uses dhclient v. 3.0.2 . And Resnet doesn't work with it. I have yet to confirm that dhcpcd works properly with Resnet, partly because I have yet to get it working properly on Breezy. If any kind soul has experience of getting Breezy and/or dhclient worki...

Re:

Quoting Eliot Wilson from 23:40, 29th Nov 2005 "Emperor" is not a grander word for "King". An Emperor is one who rules an Empire ( imperium , you see), the very specific connotation being that he owes no allegiance or fealty to any other (earthly) authority. Therefore, in pre-1806 days, in theory i...

Re:

Quoting exnihilo from 15:13, 25th Nov 2005 It's more complex than that, but it would take too long, and I lack the energy. It's relatively simple if you keep in mind that (IIRC) the basic sense is 'monarch'. 'Prince' is a less grand term for 'king' in pretty much the same way that 'emperor' is gran...

I don't know much about the Economics or Management courses, but I know all too much about module choices in general, so here is some further advice if you're interested. Extra-credit degree-choice geekery

The first thing is that, as the lady says, you don't have much to worry about at present. You can just go up your advisor and say "I want to do Management and Economics", and he'll make sure you do all the modules you need for that. But if you're curious how things work, or there are some subjects y...

Quoting Dave the Explosive Newt from 18:00, 24th Aug 2005 Anyway, it was ruled by the Judge that the government has a duty of care to prevent people from harming themselves and the steps were taken to prevent future nailing (I forget how, alas). Re:

Quoting exnihilo from 17:22, 24th Aug 2005 Actually, that's a myth. S&M isn't illegal either, you might want to check the rulings in cases such as Crown vs Brown for the reality of the law. Really? The material I can find on the Web about it suggests otherwise; see eg. http://www.commex.org/whateve...

Re:

I've come to suspect that the strength of the Basset hound theme in an Oshii film is proportional to the degree to which his self-indulgence was allowed to take control of the project. So Ghost in the Shell was Basset Mark 1, Patlabor 2 was Basset Mark c. 2.5, and Avalon was Basset Mark 4.
